Well winter is here again up here and the other morning I started my truck and it started on high idle 1000rpm. It didn't happen just once it has happened about 5 or 6 times now. Anyone with this problem?Taking it in to the dealer tomorow. . :--) :--) :--)

When I start mine, it takes 3-5 minutes for it to throttle up. Don't really have an idea why yours is starting right off at 1000. Let us know what the dealer says.

Others reported exactly the same behavior last winter. It is completely normal and should not concern you at all. :)

See you live way up north, completely normal. Mine did it a couple of times already too. Its actually easier on your engine. Better flow and less of a chance for cylinder washdown at cold temps.

I wouldn't be concerned at all. My Ford does that 'til it warms up enough, as does the KW (C-12 Cat) we have at work. John Deere combines have a low idle speed of 1200 rpms. FWIW.

Dave,

Just abit south of you and mine always starts in high idle when it's cold so sounds like its working just right for yah

When it starts at the high idle, tap the go pedal and it will idle down - for 2 minutes and then the high idle will kick back in unless you hit the go pedal or brake.

Dave

Totally normal, designed to come on if ambient temp is below freezing at start-up, better for warm up. Put a Pac Brake on & your truck will warm up even quicker

I thought there was no high idle on the manuals? This morning was the first morning it kicked on. It started at normal RPM, but thats because I hold the brake in when I push the clutch in. I got out to scrap the ice off and it bumped up to 1,000. If it can do this, then why can't Bully Dog program a high idler in their downloader for manuals?
