Hey guys in Colorado,

Keep your eyes peeled for a red 2nd gen regular cab 4x4. Can't miss it, it's got a monster front bumper, grey topper, straight piped, and new fancy wheels and tires. Call the cops if you see it. It was stolen from a buddies driveway this morning some time after 4:45 am  .

The police told him they've had more than a few diesels taken in this area recently.

Sorry to hear this Matt,

Did they get to his keys somehow or break the steering column lock & hot wire or what?

Don't know how they started it, but there was no broken glass or anything. For someone to do this at or near sunrise, they must have known how to get in quickly.

Worst part is, he just got an ATS stage IV transmission a couple of months ago, and new rims and tires at the same time. We were getting geared up to pull the motor for a rebuild and prep for twins, thank goodness that wasn't all done.

Miserable parasites, wouldn’t you just like to gets your hands on something they care about and disassemble it in front of them before getting creative with the small parts!

Tell your buddy it drives nice! See, I sold mine, and had to get a new one but didn't wanna pay for it!

Haha, sorry Matt! In all seriousness, that sucks. I hope it is found in one piece!

I keep mine In the shed lock up with a german sheperd dog on guard duty. I put a kill switch on It also. I also keep a 44 mag In bed with me to keep me warm at night.

How To install a poor-man's security system:

Go to a second-hand store, buy a pair of men's used work boots- a really big pair. Put them outside your front door on top of a copy of Guns and Ammo magazine. Put a dog dish beside it. A really big dog dish.

Leave a note on your front door that says something like………. .

………………"Bubba, big Mike and I have gone to get more ammunition…. back in about an hr. Don't disturb the pit bulls, they've just been wormed. "

Update

His truck was found today in Denver. All he knows is that the truck is not driveable, the insurance guys are going to check it out tommorrow.

Any guesses on what's left?

hopefully the burglars didnt know what they had and left the transmission alone. Thats some bucks there atleast :{

We're pretty sure the insurance is still going to rule it a total loss. They've been working with him on all his aftermarket stuff, so no loss there I guess. Kind of hoping the engine and transmission are still there, for the possibility of buying the truck back from the insurance company.

Let us know the outcome of the truck

Was It stripped or just a joy ride? This will make his Insurance go up. you got to be careful with your toys. Some fellows leave there keys In there cars and truck. The fellow across the street from me does that. They never take there keys out of there cars. When I had my dealership the used cars I did not have any Insurance on them. It cost to much I though then one year I had 3 stolen. That hurt. They never found any of them. They did catch the fellows that were stealing trucks and they got a couple of years In the pen and they got out and guess what trucks started missing again. That whole family stole truck for a livening. There dad Is In the pen for life for killing his wife boyfriend. There last name was Good. They are famous around here.

Sounds like the Johnstons down my end of PA. They even made a movie about the Johnstons called "at close range" starring Christopher Walken and Sean Penn. They were some BAD hillbillies from jennersville PA area

Glad to hear the truck was found. I found this video of a Cummins Ram getting stolen on camera. Then the guy who owns it and his buddies went out that night found it, and stole it back. Here is the caption for the video... .

"The local MegaSquirt GURU in Omaha had his truck stolen Wednesday morning, that night we searched for it, finding it no more than 11 hours after it was stolen! We had no idea where the guys were that stole it and we weren't going to rely on the police to get it back for us, so we took matters into our own hands! The person that stole it is a known meth addict in town and stolen another friends Dodge Ram the week before, and has been stealing cars for a while, all in the same neighborhood! "

The video is 7 minutes and 31 seconds long. http://www.1320video.com/vids/11.2theftrecovery.wmv

A New Update

His truck was gone for almost a month, and all they took was the radio  .

He's got the truck back, decided to keep it after all. They pried the door open, and drilled out the column. All they took was his stereo stuff. I'm not sure what all he had, as I'm not really into that stuff.

I guess that's a happy ending, certainly not what we expected. I can't believe they left the tires and rims more than anything. Just plain weird.

so much for "small town" fort collins, time to move (or start shooting scumbags).

I'm for the latter. I'm just glad we have the "make my day" law - and I'm ready. I've actually been seeing graffitti around here lately . . so I think some s**tstains from Denver are coming up.

Maybe I dont want to move back to FtCollins. Though my pickup isnt really in high demand, if I saw someone driving off in it, I'd not hesitate to take out the back glass to stop him/her. I will have a CCW permit soon enough.....

It isnt a big issue here, though I will start taking the keys out of the ignition.

Glad you found the truck and all that was missin was the radio.
