I just don't understand. You live close to the border to Mexico, and that has something to do with you truck being stolen. Mr Bush says all those folks want is a chance to work and better themselves. Surely, that's not what he's talking about. Some folks say they're stealing jobs and you say it's your truck. That just can't be. George says it ain't so. Would he lie to me?

Sorry to hear about your loss, but why are you "likely out of the diesel game"? You have insurance right?? Your truck was stolen, insurance should cover it. So you can go get a new one. Yes, it wont be the same truck, and yes the mods that you did to the last one wont be there but at least you can get a truck again. Better than having nothing to drive at all.

I'm not sure but, I don't think teft is covered unless you have comp? Some pepole opt not to have anything other than general libility? Me - comp $100 deduct and collision $500.



Hopefully for FK he's covered for something - I'm sure the insurance company won't want to give him squat for a 99. Too bad.

Yep I think Jason is correct. Either way bummer about the truck. Makes it worse because he saw it go down and was basically helpless as his truck drove away. I knew someone who came upon the same situation with his truck, he got in the bed and reached in the back window trying to fight with the thief. The guy ended up dying because the thief swerved all over the road until the owner flew out of the bed and hit a curb - head first. He died, the thief got away and the truck was found a few days later in perfect shape. Thank god FK didn't hurt or worse.

Foolkiller rents,so unfortunately no homeowner's insurance available. I spoke to him recently and he wasn't sure of his coverage. :{ He's a Navy guy and is temporarily out to sea. Good guy too!

well... ..... its a total loss. when i go on deployment long enough to put my truck in storage i downgrade the insurance to save a few bucks. well, last time i failed to upgrade again. the insurance agent looked into it for me to see what he could find (proof i tried to upgrade), but it was clear i never requested any increases in coverage. i've been through that process so many times i couldn't remember for sure.



holy cr@p... ... i haven't been this heart broken since i was a teenager.



cherish your trucks guys... . i've been looking online (out to sea till friday) for a suitable replacement... ..... nothing even appeals to me.



i dont think i'm going to get anything nice until i retire (9 more years) and move back to the mountains where a high tech alarm system is a trusty doggie in the front yard. looks like 10 year old nissan sentras and toyota corollas for this diesel fan for a while.

FK - Being an ex-navy guy myself (80 - 85, MM-"A" Ganger, Gator Freighter out of NOB Norfolk, VA) your story brings a tear to my eye :{ . I almost thought of offering to sell you my 99 . . . almost, then I came to my senses.



It'll all work out for you - I'm sorry to hear about your truck, but it could have been worse (notice my previous comment about guy I knew and his truck being stolen). Just keep bugging the cops and insurance company :-{} to keep you informed if it turns up. The power of positive thought. At worst, you could salvage the bombs you did and use later or sell to help w/purchase of (Ugh) :{ a 10 year old rice burner.

I would check with your insurance agent first! Everything I have ever heard is "if it can be insured on its own, home owners will not cover it"



If someone broke into my garage and stole my lawn mower tractor, my 4 wheeler and my motorcycles, Home owners would only cover the lawn mower.



Some friends had dirt bikes stolen off a motorcycle trailer while sleeping in a hotel, the tow vehicle insurance did not cover the bikes because they can be insured on there own.

That is SOOOO G**D*** wrong. You SHOULD be able to defend yourself and your property. Your pickup (or car, donkey, whatever gets you around) is your independence. Once upon a time, you could hang a person for stealing a horse; today's pickups/ cars/ vans are no different from the horses of old, we just have a bunch of eunichs running our courts. Death may be a bit extreme, but that person wont be stealing another vehicle, and he took that risk when he made that choice.



Footkiller- The paint job on my 92 (and for now, the way the transmission shifts) are big anti-theft devices. When/ if I get it painted, I'll have to rig up a switch.

While your down there, look for my ol' '87 Toyota SR5 XC turbo 4x4. Got stolen here and thats what I was told at the time," prolly on its way south of the border, they like these trucks down that way!" Hell, it had a full tank of premium to get them there! :{

I hate to say it, but even if you do see your truck again you'll probably wish you didn't. I had a truck stolen from Tucson, AZ a couple years ago. It was recovered in central Mexico two months later, not a pretty site. I know a lot of guys in AZ that have lost their trucks, all ended up being recovered in pieces across the border.

As a proffessional auto repossessor I have taken over a thousand cars and trucks from the driveway, in front of the house, grocery store, at work..... where ever, It's not that hard



If you think you are going to hear a proffessional in the middle take your truck before its too late you are mistaken, I don't know how many times I have heard "If I would have heard you I would have shot you". A pro is going to quick and silient. Your best defense is a SIMPLE kill switch on your truck. I hook mine up in my FASS and have the switch hidden somewhere on my truck, its really simple, no switch... ... no fuel



Trust me guys you are not going to hear a pro and think you are going to run out and catch him... ... ... . never going to happen... ... get a kill switch... ... . a couple of $$ and an hour of your time and your truck isnt going anywhere. And, don't trust the Sentry key, I have a tool to re-program the computer to accept my key that I made beforhand. It takes a little time, but again you are not going to hear someone inside your truck in the middle of the night. I have spent hours inside people cars in the driveway in the middle of the night picking the ignition, or re-programming the computer chip key... ... ... .
