Reno to Winnemucca

This is freakin hilarious!

That is SOOOO G**D*** wrong. You SHOULD be able to defend yourself and your property. Your pickup (or car, donkey, whatever gets you around) is your independence. Once upon a time, you could hang a person for stealing a horse; today's pickups/ cars/ vans are no different from the horses of old, we just have a bunch of eunichs running our courts. Death may be a bit extreme, but that person wont be stealing another vehicle, and he took that risk when he made that choice.

Footkiller- The paint job on my 92 (and for now, the way the transmission shifts) are big anti-theft devices. When/ if I get it painted, I'll have to rig up a switch.

As a proffessional auto repossessor I have taken over a thousand cars and trucks from the driveway, in front of the house, grocery store, at work..... where ever, It's not that hard

If you think you are going to hear a proffessional in the middle take your truck before its too late you are mistaken, I don't know how many times I have heard "If I would have heard you I would have shot you". A pro is going to quick and silient. Your best defense is a SIMPLE kill switch on your truck. I hook mine up in my FASS and have the switch hidden somewhere on my truck, its really simple, no switch... ... no fuel

Trust me guys you are not going to hear a pro and think you are going to run out and catch him... ... ... . never going to happen... ... get a kill switch... ... . a couple of $$ and an hour of your time and your truck isnt going anywhere. And, don't trust the Sentry key, I have a tool to re-program the computer to accept my key that I made beforhand. It takes a little time, but again you are not going to hear someone inside your truck in the middle of the night. I have spent hours inside people cars in the driveway in the middle of the night picking the ignition, or re-programming the computer chip key... ... ... .

On a 2nd generation, a kill switch on the Fass (or stock lift pump for that matter) won't stop the truck, it will just kill the V44..... some miles down the road...

Thank you Acoyle,

I was only attempting to impart some advise to the members about what pros do. So many people pour thousands of $$ into their trucks, but won't spend a few $$ and a hour to really protect your vehicle.

On occasion I do have a debtor come out and surprise me, this particular guy had a brand new Escalade in a million $ home, and it was in the middle of the day. But, the vast majority of units I have taken have been in the middle of the night while the "former" owners slept in the beds just a few feet away.

You have have all the dogs and guns and fancy alarms you want but i can tell you based on many years of taking peoples cars that a simple kill switch wired into a fuel pump or similar will stop most thieves... .....

Take a little time and put a little thought into where you place you switch, (hint) don't put in under the drivers side panel ( Thats the first place I look and 99. 9 % of the time thats where its at)

Yes it will.............

... ... ... ... . But a little ingenuity and a few bucks can make the difference between driving you truck to work every morning or that sickening feeling you have while you look at the empty spot in your driveway that used to be your truck... ... ...

Anyone with a 3rd generation truck has a built in fuel kill switch. Unless the thief knows the truck well, it should work. Just open the fuel filter canister drain valve. I do this when I am traveling and parking for the night at an unfamiliar place. The truck won't start with this valve open, all the fuel drains out. Is it a perfect solution? No, but it is a definite deterent.

And drain your fuel onto the ground??!! thats major trouble in most areas now, last i heard.

'puter...

... any quick way to get around the sentry keys on a late model toyota for example? I pick up vehicles at the "collection" agencies and take them to auction. Sometimes I only have a mechanical key to unlock the column because the place doesn't want to spring for a chipped key. #@$%! PM me if you want!

DieselPuter, I know I'd sleep right thru someone stealing my truck. Nothing wakes me up. I used to live in a place that theft wasn't a worry. I left the key in the truck at home & at work. Life was good.

When my truck got broke into (different area) they got my cds, cd deck & my tool bag with about 1K worth of tools in it. I even had my truck locked that time, not that it matters. I was mad about the deck & cds. I became enraged when I saw my tools missing as I make my living turning wrenches.

My personal opinion is that thieves should be shot on sight or when you find them.

There's QUITE a difference between a solenoid valve and a lift pump shutoff switch... ... ... ... ... ... .

I feel for you. Just picked up mine at the body shop 2:00 today after getting the doors fixed from being broken into . cost the insurance company $1014. 00 to fix it. Sounds like it is time to invade Mexico and bring home what doesn't belong including a few 100,000 jobs. Isn't there a border checkpoint there? don't they match Id to vehicle registration? or is all this homeland security stuff a bunch off crap?

I think instead of an engine kill switch, you need a some type of kill switch for the transmission so they could floor board it and it not move. any way to do that on these electonic automatics? Hearing it rev up in the drive might be a signal to grab up the . 2506 and do some justice.
