Not bulletproof either, by the time you find out truck is gone they are parked in a garage built to interfere with the signal. Or they just wrap the truck with a reflective material and walla it disappears.

Giachino- What was the outcome of this fiasco? Is it finished yet?

Believe it or not, worked out ok... . Thay paid out enough to cover what I owe + $3k... . now I still lost money as I had made double payments and put a couple of grand of aftermarket stuff on it, but I was able to replace with an 06... . w/ bells and wistles... . see sig and the $3k's going toward some DT transmission Work and a smarty when they come out for the 06.....

New truck has factory alarm, chip key, security device for the brake pedal... . and a ignition kill switch is on the way... ... plus I paid for gap ins, etch on the windows and additional "custom" ins, plus I financed $4k in accessories (and will pay off this month) so it's counted toward the value of the truck..... if they get this one I get the truck + $4k accessores paid off + $5k for etch + $2k custom accessores + $1k for additional gap coverage... . but I'll still be ******!

I agree, wouldnt have done anything for me..... they stole it at 11pm so that it would be in Mexico before I woke up and called police!..... the Phx Officer said they are aware of the lojack and take steps to mitigate it's effectiveness... . just makes it more difficult..... that's why I chose to save the $600+ dollars and use a combo of other devices to include the kill switch coded to my keyless entry..... if they cant start it, there's no issue... . I figure by the time they see the etch (vin on windows), get through the alarm, cut off the brake guard and bypass the kill switch and chip key... . they'd need 2+ hours to actually take the thing... there's got to be easier targets (like my last truck... probably took them 5 minutes)... .

Interesting, I know right where Morane is. I retired from WPAFB in 1990 and in 92 moved to FL and we are now planning to move back to the Dayton area. I have the 98 12v in 2 wheel and plan to keep it now that the wandering problem was solved by replacing the steering box. It was all in the ratio. Somebody had installed the wrong box at the factory (4&1/4 turns lock to lock) To make it steer properly it should only be 3 turns & just a slight amount more (I estimated mine had 10 degrees more when I checked it before I installled it), lock to lock. Don't do it Jim!!

I Retired from the USAF in 2003 (after serving 20 years) down in Maxwell, AFB Montgomery, AL and then moved BACK up here. BAD mistake! :( This area is the one worst economically deprived area in the nation!

BTW, I was stationed at WPAFB from Oct. 1986 until Nov 2000. I worked as a Med Lab Tech at the Medical Center there. Probably drew YOUR blood at there. At one point, I was the NCOIC for the base Blood Donor Center and also for the Drug Program.

I now work at the Dayton VA Medical Center. Everything you've ever heard that is WRONG with the VA is most likely TRUE!!!! The place is a National DISGRACE IMHO!

I agree with your statements about GM and their Unions. Total Joke! I know many GM workers here in the Dayton area and can tell you MANY horror stories from their work places. One buddy of mine had a CB radio setup in his shop at work and would talk with us (other CB'ers) for HOURS... ... . WHILE he was ON THE CLOCK!

You've probably heard in the news about DELPHI and their bankruptcy hearings. The Dayton area has (4) Delphi plants with roughly 5,000 workers. If these jobs are lost (as predicted) that Dayton area is truly going to be a ghost town!

Also, the VA (and the Union here) are ALOT like GM and their Union. The corruption, mismanagment and apathetic attitude by the workers is disgusting to say the least. I'm rather embarressed to even admit I work there!!

You could imagine being a highly motivated, freshly Retired USAF NCO coming to work in a place like this!! It's taken me (3) years to get to the point of "DEALING" with the DISFUNCTION. It's 180 degrees different than the Military and the DOD!

Sorry to hear about your loss. I've been there and know how frustrating it can be. Glad to hear you're making out nicely with an '06 though.

The problem with theft in this country is that we are all too tolerant of the criminals behind it and, more importantly, too tolerant of the police department's lack of care towards investigating the crimes.

I have a construction company. Accordingly, we are the victims of theft pretty regularly. I am not able to call in most of the thefts to the insurance company because it will affect my ability to qualify for insurance on future jobs. At the same time, even when we know who ripped us off (contractor/ sub contractor, laborer, etc. ), the police don't seem to want to get off their *** and investigate or even make an arrest. I am reminded of a foreman who, together with his father, stole over $4,000 in tools. His dad had a criminal record, which included doing 5 yrs for theft, yet the cops wouldn't even go to his house to make an arrest. I ended up having to hire a Pvt investigator and a couple of strong-arm bounty hunters to do what the cops should've done. And, of course, we never got our tools back.

I paid $21,000 in property taxes last year to my local government. Clearly I've paid more than my fair share for law enforement and the like. Yet they can't be bothered to investigate any time we are ripped off. Theft has occured to our business no less than 12 times in the past 3 years.

Until we start chopping off the hands of the criminals (ala Saudi Arabia) or holding law enforement accountable for actually doing some police work, crime in this country will continue to be rampant. Believe it or not, we live in one of the most crime-ridden societies in the industrialized world.

The greater issue here is Co-Dependant Judges residing over a severly disfunctional Court system in this country.

Unfortunately, until Citizens take a stand (by Voting) and demand changes, we will have the status quoe.

If Nissan would put diesels in their Titan Pick Up Trucks they could take a lot of business from Dodge.

It's not a Titan, but I when I bought my wife's car, the salesman said that Toyota was putting a diesel in their Tacoma...

Now that is strange, I was in Australia in 1944 and did not see a Hilux. What I saw was automobiles pulling trailers that were making Methane gas from Chicken droppings. Could this be in our future????

****ing car thieves! My car was stolen tonight. Cops found it within 3 hours. Totaled of course and driver fled the scene. ****er!

Perhaps the Saudis have it right when they take someone like a theif and skin 'em alive. It's the only way these ****heads will get the message not to mess with another man's vehicle.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but until the citizens of the US stand up against the Judicial System and stop the games that get played in the court rooms, it's just gonna get worse. The clock needs to be turned back 100 years or so, make these worthless punks think twice.

The gangster/dirtbag lifestyle has become glamourized in the US, & law enforcement is the bad guys. The government has litterly handcuffed the Cops. I have dealt with it for the last 17 years, and believe me it's a *^&*ing joke.
