Help needed with fp gauge install

truck strand on interstate 5 with p 1693 stranded 4 miles south of 165 and 5 junction ,,, truck sputters... un driveable... what does code mean. any help would be appreciated please call 909-318-3082 unplugged easy box and no change.
 
I just got the same code on my truck last week , it occured when I took off my EZ and put it on my buddies rig and then when I went overboost it came up p-1693 .

I was told that 1693 is kind of a common code and to tell the details you will need to hook up to a scan tool.

I am not much of a wizzard but I would check all the electrical connections from your ez, try it with and without the ez, you may have a bad connection on your map senser. ... ... ... ... ... good luck, wish I knew more... ... ..... Kevin
 
P1693 is "DTC Detected in PCM/ECM or DTC Detected in ECM - A "Companion DTC" was set in both the ECM and PCM"



P1389 is "No ASD Relay Output Voltage at PCM - An open condition detected in the ASD relay output circuit"



Based on those codes I would check the connections at the PCM, it's on the firewals at the top on the passenger side. Try unplugging and plugging them back it to make sure there's a good connection there. It's just a guess but worth a shot.
 
I made it home. Drove 6 hours at 15 mph. Then after getting kicked off the highway by chp we turned the key on and off while it was running. That would cause a burp of power and to our suprise above 15 psi boost it would run fine. but at wot it would over fuel to peg my 35 # gauge. normaly I only get 32 max. Any way If i drove 85-90mph I could keep it running... ... ... ... ..... Any ideas
 
Yep I was grabing at straws. I really didnt think we could limp it home. Took about 24 hours from there to souther cal but we made it. Now it looks like a trip to the dealer
 
Well truck is in at the dealer. No communication on the bus. Teck couldn't even read the codes. He thinks the cummins computer is bad but has to call dodge wednesday.
 
latest news is vp44 is bad. The next day the tech. pluged the scanner back into it and it talked to the computers. Some errors pointed to the vp44. Dodge aggreed and is sending one out. Thay are replacing the vp44 and liftpump. Maybe tuesday thay will get it in. Sure hope so my dakota really seems small.

Good to see you are back on the road. Did the dealer make any beef about the extra fuel pump? Since we are so close, let's hook up one of these days and exchange some lies. Would like to check out your pusher pump install also.

Thay let the pump mod go. But I think it was close. Thay where concered that the after market pump pressures where too high. But the mallery I have is almost the same pressure as a good lift. So I was ok. In hind site I would of taken it out. I think I just got a good dealer.





I did unlock my waste gate and take off the ez first.
