03 2500 4x4 w/ 48RE and quadzilla xzillaraider. Truck surges when shifted into drive, reverse, or second from park. runs fine on the road. truck never missed a beat. feels like throttle may be sticking because from a stop truck wants to pull. kind of like when your driving with both feet... one on the gas and one on the brakes. when brake released truck will go without stepping on the pedel then it kinda surges and then it levels off. transmission is stock. not sure if it is transmission related or a fueling problem. no error codes. I have a trip coming up and want to make sure i have the truck ready to go. anyone know of a knowlegeable shop in the southern california area?

I had exactly the same symptoms. I replaced the Fuel Control Actuator (FCA) on the back of the CP3 pump and all is well.

I don't have the part number handy, but you can find it with a forum search.

I paid about $100 from Cummins. It is simple to replace, but you need long arms. One connector, 3 Torx bolts, then pull straight toward the back bumper.
