Timing of Brake Fluid Change

Quick question

my truck is an 06 3500, 6 spd, 37K miles--accessories that interface/interfere with the PCM are a banks economind system and a pacbrake exhaust brake--I recently upgraded the compressor for the brake with a viair 400 series, using the original wiring, relays, switches, etc supplied with the brake--soon after, the truck developed a stumble, sometimes hardly noticable, but sometimes enough to trigger the check engine light and disengage the cruise--scanning with a personal scanner, the code was shown to be an interrupted crank position sensor signal--banks diagnostics displayed no problem--I replaced the sensor, and we left on a 1000 mile trip--problem reoccurred 5 times--had a repair shop scan the truck--same code--again, nothing on the banks diagnostics--otherwise, truck runs great--good power, economy--I have disconnected the banks completely--haven't had a chance to see if that changes anything--any ideas??? all help appreciated--

I put a Banks Economind/Ottomind on my truck when I forst got it. Started having crankshaft sensor codes and stumbles, especially under load. Called Banks. Told to check my sensor, check the sensor ring, check this check that. Did all that and still had problems. Called them back and was told to check all the same things. Took the truck to local Dodge house and had them check the sensor and ring and things. All checked out ok. Tried all the settings and everything else. Still had the problem. Banks sent me a rerplacement. Same problem. I changed my crankshaft position sensor. Same problem. Disconnected the Economind. Problem went away.

I called Banks and relayed my story, even though they had all the tech help notes. Told them I didn't need a tuner that caused more problems than it solved and would like a refund. Their reply was too bad, so sad, you waited too long. Even though I had reported trouble just a few weeks after install. Don't let them keep you chasing issues until it's too late.

sounds like my experience to a degree--first banks unit was replaced, as it was toast--had problems getting the 2nd one to work--same run-around--check sensor/ring, prox. of wiring to pcm (induction??)--finally got it to work, and it worked well--installed banks products for customers in the 70s--no problems with factory support--was suprised/dissapointed with my latest experience--when I find the gremlin, I'll post--

I wish you luck. The tech help guys were very nice, but couldn't get things to work. Never could get the Economind to work and Banks would not take a return. Finally had to dispute it with CC company. hated to do it, but they didn't leave me any choice. I can't imagine that it was your air pump change. Good luck.

I've installed and sold a lot of pacbrakes in the past and have upgraded some in the same manner as you have... I've not seen problem with the stock wiring of the pacbrake interfere with any of the trucks wiring or sensors. This includes several of my own trucks. .

I agree with Rockranch... .

Common theme with banks electronics. All banks electronics either with old or new dont fair well with respect to dodge ECM/PCM interface. Banks is local to me and I have told all my friends and co workers to avoid them.

All their fancy advertising just seems to lure them in though. Rockranch's comment about Bank's reluctance to help is common of their customer service.

Mac:cool:

We have the fix for this, Two things cause this,Both are easily fixed,Unfortunately BANKS has NOT treated its Dealer network fair. (Selling to big warehouse companies) allowing 3rd Party sales,I consider this to Be a violation of are Master distributors agreement With Banks,T&C still offer their Products, the fit and finish is 2nd to None,Contact us for the fix,I will not Post it.
