If I take my hands off the steering wheel, the truck will steer/move slightly to the right. I have to keep a very slight pressure on the steering wheel to hold it straight. Is this an alignment problem? Brake pull? Something else? Would it be covered under warranty? Thanks.

Start with the easiest things first. Tire pressure, uneven tire pressure will cause a pull. Next try rotating your tires, sometimes you will get a radial tire pull. If you rotate tires and the pull goes to the other side or goes away you know you have a radial tire pull. After you check those and you still have a pull go to a competant front end alignment shop.

Generally speaking a brake pull will only show up when you apply your brakes. It is possible for brakes to cause a pull while going down the hyway but it doesn't happen too often!
Good Luck!

I assume it wants to go right while you're on a flat surface with properly inflated tires.

My model year 2000 Ram 2500 was to the local 5-star dealer service department yesterday with complaints of vague steering, vague return to center after turns, and pull to the right. I have to constantly make corrections to stay in my lane as I travel straight stretches of road. After eight hours at the dealer I was told that the problem was alignment which was covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles and I would need to pay for the alignment since I'm pushing 35,000 miles. I brought the truck home with paperwork showing the diagnosis but without the alignment.

A call to 800. 992. 1997 (got through on the FIRST try!) told me what I suspected: alignment is covered for 36 months or 36,000 miles unless required by obvious mechanical damage. DC customer service put me on hold and called the service writer at the dealership that tried to charge me. I was then told to return to the dealership and my truck would be aligned under warranty.

At this point I'm deciding if I want this service department to ever touch the truck again.

Had same thing on my truck same song and dance at dealer they checked and aligned it ? whent to a parking lot pulled up to a painted line and looked at the truck front to rear with one side on line outher side passenger wheel was poinging to the left whent back to dealer told them what I thought of there alignment and they said to take it to toneys align ment shop they do fire trucks and other big rigs . Note stearing wheel r when wheel is straight ahead suposed to be sentered . Alignment was all it needed to solve problem . The service maniger said we don't have a rack to put your truck on . I have not gone back to that place anymore. Look in the yellow pages find out where they do big trucks and get it aligned . Your dealer can get DC to pay for it they did for me . LOL 99 3500 DRW ISB

Guess what solved the problem? Simple tire rotation.

I simply swapped the two fronts, even though I know the book says to swap front to back on a dually.

Thanks for all the input.
