Hello from 24v land, a buddy of mine who is not a memeber is having some problems with a 1998 12v that is bone stock. When it gets cold it will not start. When it does start it just barely runs and if you touch the accelerator it smokes like crazy and will most often die shorthly there after. If he plugs it in it runs like a top. with no problems. The one saving grace is that if he get it to start when it is cold and just lets it run for about 20 minutes it will run fine after that.

Anyone have any ideas??

He has ruled out fuel as it has done this all winter long... .

The grid heaters are not functioning. It could be the relays, cabling, or the heater elements themselves. If it is really cold one of the grids not working can be enough to cause what he is seeing. Both need to work for really cold temps. Hope this helps.

LSmith - that is what I told him and what he alreday thought. He does not have the paticience to fix it so its off at the dealer now. This should be a fairly easy fix.
