This past weekend I installed BD Twins and there 155hp 8 hole injectors. While doing this I retorqued the head bolts and adjusted the valves. At first the truck ran a little rough, But I figured it was just so air in the lines. After couple of days of running, while on the work today the truck died. I coasted to the side of the road after and underhood inspection I desided to try to restart but it would not start. So I let it set for a few minutes (2-3) and it fired up and ran fine the couple of remaining miles. No I am messing with it in the shop. It will set and idle for a few minutes and just die. It will not fire up unless you let it set for a fews minutes without cranking. Then it fires right up and runs for a few more minutes and dies. It is carrying about 16psi of fuel pressure when it dies.

So, did I bump something lose during install? Any help would be appreciated. I checked the tapped pump wire for the comp and it seems to be snug. Also I tried the 3 key turns and light did not flash, but that does not mean I was doing this right.

Do you have any codes? On trucks mfg before early 2000, you could not do the ign on,off,on,off,on and read the codes (at least on diesels, works on gassers). You will have to get the codes scanned with a scan tool.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter(s)?

With the injectors you purchased, did they have pop ratings (something like 305bar)? Also, if during installation, you lost one of the copper washers on the bottom of the injectors, the truck will run like crap and possibly just die. With new injectors, it is possible for these washers to easily fall off during installation because there is no junk (carbon) built up on the shaft of the tips to hold the washer in place.

The larger injectors will move a much larger volume of fuel than stock injectors. I do not know what you had on there before, but if you have a dying VP44 and you attempt to increase the fuel delivery requirements, the pump might not be able to keep up, causing a rough idle problem.

You could try changing back to your previous set of injectors to see if the problem changes any.

One other thing, disconnect your batteries over night. After re-connecting the batteries (at least 4 hours disconnected) turn the ignition on with out starting and slowly push the accelerator to the floor and slowly release. This will recalibrate the APPS.

I would also check all engine grounds (remove, clean, seal) and clean all engine wire harness connections (clean with good electronic cleaner, high pressure air dry, pack with di-electric grease).

Hope this helps.

Now my truck will not start at all. I have plenty of fuel pressure 16psi and when I crank the engine over I get fuel out of the cracked injector lines. I ran a scan check with a superchip and it came up 1693-DTC Detected Companion JTEC Mod and 0238-MAP Sens Voltage Too Hi.

I also unhooked the edge box and tried to start but no luck.

Any Ideas?

I think I forgot to add this:

A CPS (Crank Position Sensor) will cause the engine not to run (or start) if it fails. Usually, when they fail, they leave no codes either. All you will have is an engine that will not run.

They are not expensive (around $80) and are easy to replace.
