I have a 99 auto and when i take off it will not shift on its own. If I let off of the peddle and ease into it it will shift. It does this in 123 and possibly 4th to overdrive. Dodge did a scan tool on it and said nothing showed up. I dont want to shove a bunch of money into upgrades I just want a quick fix to get me down the road

wont shift

Sounds like your throttle position sensor is out of adjustment or you tv cable is out of adjustment. Just something to check

Outlawram, you said Dodge scaned for codesand did not find any? THe governor press solenoid/and or sensor could be bad causing the trans not to shift without setting a code. TH e governor pressure should raise equaly with actual vehicle speed. Did the Dodge tech drive the truck down the road and monitor the govenor press with the DRB? More than likely you can drop the pan and change these 2 items and it will cure your problem. Pretty common prob on the 46/47re trannys.

How much are the two gov. switches. Is one plastic and one metal by chance. I think I know what you are talking about but want to make sure. I think I am just going to take it to Dave in Saint Lucas on Friday. Its only an hour away.

Yeah one is black plastic (sensor) & the other is metal (switch). I'm not for sure on the price but both should be under a C-note even at full list price. By the way they are located on the bottom passenger side of the valve body. Keep us posted on your findings.

I just installed the sensor and solenoid in mine 3 weeks ago. It cost me just about $175 for the parts, but the transmission fluid was $7. 20 a quart. You will lose about 6 quarts of fluid when you drop the pan to replace the parts, if they are what is wrong.

The prices I listed above were from the cheapest dealer out of 3 that I called.

Well I got the truck back. transmission was shot and lift pump was out. Dodge replaced the lift pump. Then it was off to Goerend Bros. transmission. I am so impressed with the tripple disc torque converter and transmission from them that When I get my new truck it will go to them before I even bring it home. Dodge trannys suck ****!
