Head light switch went bad, also intermittent windshield wipers wouldnt work, they would just turn on or off. I unhooked both positive batterie cables.

Replaced head light pull switch also looked at the intermittent box while fixing lights but didnt do any thing to it except move it around. Put everything back in place, lights worked and to my surprise the intermittent wipers worked on intermiten.

Went to start truck and now it wont even turn over, everything else has power. Also the steering wheel doesn't lock when in park.

The truck had an alarm sys from dodge that was disabled along time ago I think just from the horn and I noticed the panic light is flashing(the red light).

Any ideas on how to get it to start??I tried several times moving the shifter in and out of park and nothing and also the wheel dont lock up.

Would also just like to remove the alarm sys completly.

The truck is my 1995 4x4 auto trans.

Thanks for any help.

One thing that shows up every now and then is the connector to the ignition swith, on the bottom of the steering column. Remove the plastic cover and check the plugin connection.

This one may be a simple shift lever position problem. There is a little brass colored cable on the right side of the steering column. It moves the shift lever position indicator. It hooks on a little lever that is moved by the shift lever. Check to make sure that cable is on the little lever correctly. If it is not, fix it and see what happens, If it is, try to start the truck by moving the shift lever to various positions, not just the feel of it in a notch. If it will start, then the indicator lever needs to be adjusted. There is a little plastic knob for that. It is high on the left side of the steering column even with the shift position indicator lever. The switch that prevents starting in other than P or N is on the transmission. I assume you didn't mess with that.

Could be that the alarm is not disabled and it has locked out the starter circuit?. Not sure how you would take care of that without hunting down the wiring to find the alarm module. How did the alarm enable/disable, key fob?.

Thanks Guys,it was the alarm, and it had a little button under the steering wheel that I didnt see for 2 days:rolleyes: Truck started right up.

That stuff is going to get removed very soon.

Thanks!!!

I personally would keep it unless you are going to another system. If keeping it you need as much information on it that you can find. After all it did keep the truck from driving away.

Glad you got it going Scott. As a safety measure, its better to disconnect the neg. cables and not the pos. Its risky if a wrench slips and contacts the fender, hood strut or other metal object doing the pos. first.

I had this same problem and for the same reason. After unhooking both batteries for some service, as soon as I put them back on, the aftermarket alarm went off. It was installed with and by the LOJACK rep that put the L/J system in. I didn't ask for the alarm-it was extra, but he put it in anyway no charge. I think it was a mistake. Anyway, I never leave it on as the factory one works for me, but disconnecting the batts and reconnecting them woke up the lojack alarm, set off a siren, and disabled the start circuit. Lovely! It took me a while-in the dark- to find the pinhead sized switch the guy put in to kill the alarm. I now know better! The whole off/on thing with the batts gets the system's attention.
