am working on a 92 w250 the wiring harnes for the engine shorted out and some the of the wires melted and became a molten mass of wire and plastic i spliced the wires and it started but wouldnt charge so had the alternator tested and its working fine putting out 15 volts . i put the alternator back on and the truck wont start checked all the fusible links for continuity with my tester and they are fine . all the grounds are fine . could the pcm be fried does it have anything to with the starting system as far as the starter goes? i realy need to get this giong nobody is helping in the first gen forum so i thought i would post here . i have unpluged the big conector at the key switch and there is no power to any of the pins on it . i have power to the start relay but no power is getting to the cab it dosent seem like #@$%!

No your PCM should not have anything to do with starting or running your engine.

Did you check your handy work(spliced wires) out to see if they were stilll good?

Did you check all your fuses?

You should have at least one wire going to the ignition switch that is hot.

As I recall the 1 rst generation's had a external voltage regulator, is it working?

To get the truck running tie the fuel shut off solenoid rod in up position, using jumper wire insert into the terminal of the starter relay that has power to it and the terminal opposite of it, that should get you running so that you get it to a shop if you don't want to figure it out on your own.

i cant find any fuses in the fuse panel in the cab that would have anything to do with starting and this truck dosent have the PDC box under the hood like thew newer trucks also my fuel shut off solenoid is the type that the plunger is inside the injection pump not like the p pumps

Have you checked to see that the starter itself isn't shorted? Voltage drop tests?

yes was trying to use the test light for a jumper wire didt work so i made a jumper wire and used a jumper cable to jump the starter got it running to move it in the shop . i have power to tthe blower motor cab light glove box light but the key is dead
