Looking for some ideas guys,

Drove the truck to work this morning and later in the day wanted to get some parts and the truck wont start, starter doesn't turn at all.

Fuel solenoid is good, clutch switch is good (added a jumper anyways), power to starter good and the small wire to the soleniod has good voltage when the ignition is turned to start.

Had someone hold the ignition on start while I tapped the starter with a brass drift and still nothing, only sound is the fuel solenoid pulling in and out.

Batteries are new and are showing good voltage on load test (even tried jumping with another vehicle and nothing.

Truck is a 98 Qcab 4x4, 12V, 5spd with various improvments.

Never had any issues with starting or anything else before.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Try hitting the starter gently with a hammer
If it works after a love tap, you will need to get a rebuild kit for the starter (or a rebuilt starter).

Does Vehicle Have Tilt Steering,if So Tilt Steering Up Or Down, see If Vehicle Will Start,if Vehicle Starts Check Wiring Comming Up To Ignition Switch, unplug Connector And Inspect For Burn Damage.

Starter contacts in solenoid , an or starter .
To check cables run good jumpers [ need heavy copper / not large insulation ] connected at starter , neg to body of starter & pos to solenoid .

Thanks for the input guys, I have replaced the starter after trying JFaughn's idea this morning.

Nothing happened after that test so I removed it and bench tested the unit.

The solenoid threw the gear out but the motor would not spin (hum, vibrate, twitch or smoke :-laf).

Picked up a new starter and bench tested it and it almost lept off of the work bench. Re-installed new starter and its all good :D.

Biggest pain-in-the-a** was trying to find a 10mm - 12 point socket to remove the starter bolts as nearly no one carries anything but 6 point around here (the two lower can be done with a combination wrench but the upper is near impossible without a socket and about 7" of extensions.

* Haberservice: never even thought about that one, but it will stick in my head now. The truck has tilt but it is never used as it works fine in one position for me and the odd time my wife drives it.

Again thanks for the inputs from all, its nice knowing that there are other ideas/options out there and all help!
