OK guys;

How many of you out there have over 120K on your trucks and have had zero Lift Pump or VP44 problems??

Sometimes it seems like I'm the only one, but I'm sure there are others...

Would like to hear from others with no LP or VP44 problems -

Cheers,

Shawn

Mine fell a little short at almost 107,000. Replacement and relocation is underway now. I'll have to update my sig now.

I am at 97,000 never been in the shop for anything! Same lift pump and vp44. My 01 cant say I havent had it that long and dont know what was done by previous owner.

Cant claim the no lp failure, had 3 number 4 is back by the tank where the other 3 should have been. the original vp- 44 has 412,000 kms or 247,000K.

I have 128k and replaced one LP and still on the factory VP.

There is a guy around here with 315k+ in a 98. 5 with the original Vp and it has had a Edge Comp for ever and 275RV's for about 50k, and still runs strong.

Replaced original lift pump at 62,000, the current pump has nearly 93,000 mile on it. vp44 is original with over 150,000 on it.

Dad is on his 3rd or 4th LP (we started changing them on a schedule, not when they die) and original VP44 at almost 250k miles. For the last 120k he has gotten his fuel almost exclusively at one place... oh, and he rarely runs additive...

I had 201k on my original VP44 when I traded trucks... even after driving well over 200 miles with a trailer in TX in 112*F heat with a dead LP around 150k... had replaced the LP three times in that truck... I ran conditioner in every tank and got my fuel at hundred's of places, but had stuck mostly with Flying Js.

2 01's, numerous LP's (now by the tank w/ larger lines), 120k on one and 144k on the other. Both original VP's and both had boxes, DD torque whatever and the other a TST and VanAaken.

Add 2 cycle oil to each tank.

I'm not trying to be a prick here, but isn't 247,000 miles only 395,200 kms? I'm just curious because I was always told that a mile is 1. 6 kms. That would mean that 247,000 x 1. 6 = 395,200. If I'm wrong please let me know so I can get my calculations correct in the future.

As a rough equivalent 1 km = ~ 5/8 mile ((. 625), actually closer to . 621 though) but the online conversion sites have the EXACT conversion numbers. The www.onlineconversion.com gave 247000 miles = 397507. 968 km.

Now there is an old saying, measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a grease pencil, cut it with an ax. If you round off the miles to the nearest 1k you can not then go 3 decimal places with the km, you have to stay in the same ballpark, ie 398000 km

sorry if I created a problem with my conversion of kilometers to miles. I just multiplied by . 6. I have the actual factor but couldnt remember it at the time.

I'm doing fairly well on LPs. First one ran 80k miles... second one still going at 149k. VPs are another matter. First one ran a little over 40k. I have always felt it was weak from the factory. Second one ran 90k.

I live in central Mexico and most of the fuel that has been run through the truck has been Mexican fuel. On top of that, I do not treat the truck as a diesel... I treat it as an "anything that will burn" truck! As one friend said, "You would run it on corn cobs if you could figure out a way to liquify them and shove them through the fuel filter. " He is pretty well right!!!

I burn used motor oil by the barrel!
