Thanks to phillips5 for coming out and looking at my truck and explaining the 'normal' noises of an old Cummins with lots of miles on it :)
Thanks to everyone here for their support and suggestions - the TDR is a great resource.
Now I can get back to driving something with a real engine it it! :D

yeah, it takes a while to get tuned to the Cummins music after being around gassers all your life, but it quickly becomes the only song you wanna hear! ;)

Yea. . I was at my son's shop yesterday helping him get a 95 running... . (fuel issues. . solved). After we had it running everyone was saying "do you hear that rod knocking?".

I just laughed. Normal Cummins music I said. . get used to it!

Love it!

JD,

Glad to hear that everything worked out OK. I was worried wbout you for a while.

You are right about the TDR, especially the First Gen crowd. They are the greatest collection of geniuses and smart*sses that you could ever hope to find anywhere!!!

The only down side to a Cummins is that sometimes, by the time you can hear a non-engine related problem, it is REALLY messed up. Get used to what "normal" sounds like and you'll know when somethings out of whack... . maybe.
