my truck started fine while it was warm out with in a half a turn. but when it got cold out it would crank over for about 30 sec before it would start. i replace the lift pump about a month ago didnt seem to help at all.

any ideas what this might be.

Is it spinning over fast enough? In other words how's your battery? ksb working?

Mine starts better when it's warm of course, but even when it's cold (single digit F)and I don't use the grid heater it starts within a second or two of cranking... . perhaps 1 1/2 revolutions of the engine tops.

I'd agree with CB and Jay; check your electrical stuff. Now, say your electricals all check out. Move onto fuel delivery-

Do you have any white/ blue smoke when it is cold? A little haze at cold idle is ok, not desirable per se, but not too bad. Under load? Any smoke that isnt black? Timing could ba a little slow, or the pump could just be getting tired. How many miles are on your rig? I'd check the starter, battery, et al, then the fuel system.

I just put a new battery in it this fall. it is spinning over fast enough and it keeps poping like it wants to start but i gotta have the throttle to the floor to get it to start. according to the volt gage my grid heaters are working. about 222,000 miles on. it has been starting better since it has gotten warmer out or could it just be that cold blooded.

Could be pump, pump timing, injectors, or sucking air in the fuel system. Having to hold the throttle open is a sign there is not enough fuel at the right time to fire and the cold just makes it worse. Have you done any work on the pump, injectors, lift pump, or fuel lines? Might check fuel lines from tank to lift pump and see if they are cracked.
