So far I think it's going to be great! The only drawback I see is the engine choices, I mean the old 5. 9 at the top of the list?? It's a great engine but it's showing its age compared to F*rd and Chevy. That'll all change in 2002-2003 when the 5. 8L Hemi's roll out, 353hp with 395ft-ibs are some sweet numbers.

My only other grunt is why people are complaining about the IFS on the 1500's. 90% of 1500 buyers never take it off-road, and i'm sure the ones who do won't have any complaints about no solid axel. The 1500's will be great on the road and thats what most truck buyers today are looking for. If you want a rough n' tuff truck, look towards the 2500 with a thicker frame and the solid front axel your craving for.

I love everything about the new Dodge Ram, except of course for the engine choices. Everyone was expecting for the Hemi to come out, but it obviously didn't. I guess I'll have to wait 'til next year (when the Hemi comes out) to buy a truck. And what's up with the 4. 7 liter V8? Only 235 horses? Chevy's 4. 8 liter V8 has 270 hp. Jeep has a concept vehicle, the Jeepster, with the same 4. 7 liter V8. But it has 275 horses. Dodge should have put that version in its Ram. And then there's the new 3. 7 liter V6. 210 hp is ok, but why so little torque? Chevy's V6 has 260 lb ft of torque, while the 3. 7 liter V6 only has 225, thats not going to cut it. Like I said, the New Ram is an awesome truck, but the engine choices are really going to hurt it.

I think it's going have a big impact on the market. But not like the one did back in '94. As for power you can expect the big Ram to get the 354 Hemi along with an rumored 383 magnum (6. 4L) I don't know what the HP rating are but I expect them to be more than both Ford and Chevy. Chrysler has always made great engines so I would think that these will be well engineered.

The new cummings deisel is expected to have 305-350hp (towards 350hp is more likely) and 550-650 lb's of torque. And some people think dodge coulndn't make a transmission to be able to handle it! Of course Dodge Can!

I'm rather impressed at the way TT has been including diesels.

This month's read should be better than last month's then eh?

2 pages of drivel about diesels from Jim B. from the boatanchordieselpage.

Charger R/T

WOW, that Charger r/t is one good looking car. I had a 69 charger r/t with 4 speed & 440 mag. eng. one fast car ah, the good ole days hmmmm. ;)

I was VERY impressed by the issue, and how its now politically correct to write positively about diesels: how their emissions may not be as bad as gas, their economy superior, longevity unsurpassed. I especially liked the comment on the diesel Expedition regarding wait to start: "If emergency vehicles and ambulances can plan on a 5 second wait, so can you" never seen that kind of honesty in these mags before! Mebbe we should purchase a copy for that 'physicist' auto critic 'friend' of ours who was pointed out dissing the VW diesel rabbit recently?;)

Welp howz this sound for the one at the top?

<hr>

Along with the name, we also brought back the heritage that made Charger R/T a legend. This concept car advances four-door style into an entirely new dimension. True to the original muscle car form, Charger R/T, with its low, thrusting hood, has a powerful V8 matched with a five-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels.

The front grille and lamps look menacing. The body is taut. The rear deck with spoiler, and the fascia with sly-looking taillamps and twin exhaust outlets, all signify a vigorous departure from the past. In true retro form, 1966 meets the millennium. One look at the radio knobs and three-spoke steering wheel will confirm that. The pistol-grip shift lever adds to the feeling.

Throughout this interior past and future, street and racing are balanced. Exposed metal is emphasized -- but the front and rear bucket seats are made of carbon fiber and have red leather accents. Because the Charger R/T is supercharged, the 4. 7-liter SOHC, 16-valve, V8 engine has the kind of ferocity that results in 325 horsepower.

But Charger R/T is environmentally gentle -- its Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel produces negligible emissions at the tail pipes.

D~Doghouse... It is actually nice to see a mag as honestly written as trucktrend. Not for nuthin' but I think that Truck Trend for most part is the only mag that "Dared" talk about diesels. No longer is diesel "Taboo" Now It allmost is the Meat and Potatoes of the thing ;) ;) :eek:
