true all season toyhauler

In the market for a toyhauler that can be used for a true all season home away from home. My lovely state doesn't allow doubles for recreational use.

Want to stay bumper pull due to needing the truck bed for other things. Quality and ability to handle sub freezing temps is most important.

Leaning towards Desert Fox.

Thoughts?

I can't say anything about Desert Fox, but I own an Arctic Fox 5th wheel which is also made by Northwoods and am very pleased. Haven't used it in below zero weather though yet.

One of my buddies has a 28' Desert Fox and loves it. He hunts and camps year round in Oregon, UT and WY so he uses it. I have an Arctic Fox camper and have been happy with it. Great company.

This is the toy hauler I had built by a horse trailer company.. Works great for us and is very tough, no 2x2 stapled construction in this rig.. The interior is built by Outlaw interiors and is complete custom to our specs. We love it.

A rig like yours has always appealed to me if I was going to have a big toy hauler that was actually designed to carry a car. I thought that a race car trailer with living quarters would work well, did you do a custom build because race trailers with living quarters were lacking?

This isnt' something I must have right this second; have over a year before it would be beneficial/required.

Only a few of the race car trailers are built tough enough to handle every weekend use You get what you pay for.. I watched a couple of our friends pay lots of money for a RV toy hauler and have it fall to pieces in just 3-4 years. We traveled with a truck camper on our Dodge trucks for 17 years and decided to move up.. We sell at art shows and spend about 150 nights a year on the road, haul a quad and travel LOTS of rough gravel roads. We are very happy with this build-purchase.

Thanks for the update. That is many nights a year, not surprised you wanted to upgrade from a camper to a trailer.

I've had and used an old travel trailer for years, but have recently purchased and enjoyed using a popup camper, though that choice is more about accessing the backcountry.

I want to live in this while doing field work, and would prefer to haul my motorcycle and/or quad or side by side UTV with me when going out for longer periods of time. I'll be pulling it either with a 1 ton crew cab pickup, or a larger service vehicle, but would have to be bumper pull due to having a service body full of equipment.

Checkout ATC (Aluminum Trailer Company) for race car trailer with LQ and garage. I have 48', 28' LQ and 20' garage. Can haul 9K cargo, which puts GVW at 23k.

Those look pretty cool. The versions with a decent LQ are all 5th wheel....unless I've read their site incorrectly.
