I found a new filter at a offroad shop on the way home from work tonight. I had never heard of them before. They are made of foam and claim to filter better than paper, AFE, or KNN. Sounded interesting I guess so I ordered one to try it out. The cost is about $55.

Any body ever heard of these before?www.trueflow.com

i've seen their ad's in truckin and sport truck, and i think i saw their ad in the diesel power mag...

no first hand experience though with them

I bought one last November and took a 4" drill to the bottom of my box to open up the airway. Seems to suck more air than before and you can hear the whistle of the turbo a lot more. . So far no problems and seems to be doing the job it says. . ;)

Got it installed

I picked it up today and installed it in the parking lot. Seems to have a lot more turbo whistle like Bhanks said. (Silencer ring is gone as well). It has a steel reenforced back and comes preoiled. It's a lifetime filter and has a 30 day money back guarantee.

I stopped and got a 7" piece of 5" diameter exhaust pipe at the truck shop and replaced the intake muffler. Not quite a full 5. 5" but close enough to tighten down the clamps. I'll see how it sounds tomorrow on the way to work.

Next will be a straight pipe. Just tired of the quiet non-diesel sound.

I have had one in my truck now for about a year and probably 25,000 miles. I think it's is a great filter. A lot of my driving is off road and in lots of dust this time of the year or a least untill the summer rains start next month. The filter has to be cleaned every 8k, at least mine does but I like it a lot.

Bringing this thread back to life. Has anyone tried the TrueFlow filter with their Silencer Eliminator pipe? I just saw it in the Aug. 4-wheel & off-road mag. I have seen the filter before but the pipe is new I think. Thanks.

I picked up the filter and cleaner kit for 68. 00 w free shipping from Autoanything.com

Filter comes in a sealed bag which is also in a sealed bag. Fits just like OEM, It has a 3/4 inch lip for the top of the air box to sit on, for a tighter seal.

Just took her out for a spin and after I warmed up the truck I gave it a few WOT. Came home and checked the airminder and it was in the same spot when i left. I have done this with two new OEM filters and had sucked the airminder down about 25%. Have not driven with it enough, but would clearly have to say, it's less restrictive and filters better than cotton or gauze.

Look for yourself:

rbattelle,

your ok as long as you have a roll of OEM Graphite carpet.

I wondered 'cause you've got fire extinguishers near the filter in those pics. I thought there was some danger of spontaneous combustion. :-laf :-laf

I just bought my truck 2 weeks ago and it had some kind of mean green airfilter ( a K&N type cotton) and replaced it with the TrueFlo. I refuse to use a cotton element on any offroad/work truck or motorcycle for that matter. The foam filters are much better at well,... ..... filtering. The TrueFlo can trap microns three times smaller then that of the K & N's and flows withint 95% of a broken in K & N, thats still significantly better then a paper filter. So my money goes to foam filters these days. Just too much dirt accumulation in the throttle bodies on my motors that I ran K & N in the past.
