The factory and Ring and Pinion on My 2003 is on there way out, Just looking for feed back on the Tructrack differential. I like ARB,AUBURN, and Detroit, they are not for MN wintry conditions. thanks in advance.

I put them in my 60/80 combo and I have no problems. Way better than the factory setup. They will sometimes act like open diffs'... but if you tap the brake while under a little throttle, it will cause them to lock in and you will be good to go.

The factory setup went 117K, the truck is used in pulling My construction Trailers or in the Winter Months Pulling our machines to the Rockies,I am always Backing trailers over curbs and such. I think the failure is somewhat per-mature,its been service every 30k.

Funny you should ask, I just finished the install on the Dyna Trac hubs and the true trac front diff. Got a ratcheting noise when driving with the hubs locked in two high. If I switch to four high the noise goes away, if I unlock the hubs the noise goes away, when in two high if I unlock one hub the noise goes away. I have had no luck at all with True Trac, or Dyna Trac. I can make the noise go away but don't know where the noise comes from. The hubs lock and unlock like they are supposed to.

Has anyone else expierenced this? you can respond on this site or give me a call at 406-837-5101 or 541-499-2326. I'm a long way from home and only have about two days before I have to hit the road so I am kind of in a bind.

Thanks for any help you can render.

Is it only when you are turning? If so it could just be the limited slip functining. If not something may be wrong. I'm no expert though.

Found the prob. had too much greese on the hub works on the pass side which prevented it from unlocking fully which caused the dogs to drag. Cleaned everything up with just a small amount of lube and everything works fine now.

Well this is the 1st trutrac I ever install, did 2 or 3 ARBs and Kodiak's, but this was by far the PITA install in years for Me. The pinion shaft was either bent or warp, their was no signs of failure in any bearing or gear, the pinion slap was unbelievable, when I went from park to drive people jump in parking lots. adjusting the backlash took some doing. the initial drive proved we got it right . I don't off-road so I won't be able to give the final until winter and see how it performs. It's differently is an improvement over factory. O its rear diff.

How much backlash did you set? We first set mine up at about 2. 5 Thousandths but then opened that up to 7.

I did not not measure it, we did it by feel, generally we get it right the 1st time, but not this time, we had to re-readjust twice to get it to were I was comfortable with it.

I have a True Trak on my 72 Jeep Commando, rear Dana 44. Works like a champ, and most of the time you don't know it's there.

We'll the verdict is in, the pinion & side bearings. The Pinion bearings had considerable wear,The Ring and pinion gears had some wear but not be-on what was to be expected, the bearing and races are being check for correct fabrication and if found to be OK, I will forward all of it to the lubricant manufacture. Truck had 117k also it was service 30K intervals.

How about letting us know who is the lube manufacturer? I know that it might seem taboo, but your not venting so it's OK. Just an FYI.

Amsoil... . 80/90 AGR , the bearings checked out. Well if this happens again I will just install new bearing kit. I may go to 110/140. My guess is with all the HP and Upgraded Trans was just to Much for it (Pinion bearings and the crush sleeve). I may even sell the diff and Ring & pinion. ( LSD)

I have been into many AAM 11. 5 diffs and I always check backlash before I remove anything and they have all been in the . 008" range. I highly suggest checking it to make sure you have it between . 008 -. 012 max. Otherwise you will have premature ring and pinion wear and most likely develop a howl.
