I have the death wobble comming back again,,,,yes my Michelins LTX's need replacing,,,,but i need to get a complete alignement first. .

There were some specs by someone who aligns these all the time ,,,but i cant't seem to find them on the site. .

A local shop checked it,,and set max caster as recommended,BUT they adjsted those clock looking things in opposite directions,,,something i remember the expert warning against,,,

the truck seems to go good,,,,buti just want some good info to take to this shop... .

They say, they had to adjust them that way because of a problem with how thwe nukles were welded to the housing,,,,does this make any sense or am i worrying for nothing. .

I hope someone can help,,,,or put me in contact with someone who knows.

Thanks agian

Death Wobble cure

See my other posts- I cured it with a dual shock per wheel set-up from Skyjacker running four Hydros up front and went to a lighter Eagle aluminum wheel all around. I run the oem Michelins which have 24k on them and they wear flawlessly with two rotations now- I cannot get the problem to return and have run over every rough spot I can find at similar speeds. Expensive but I think the shear weight up front needs a great shock set-up. Good luck.

Hooter:

I also have a 1996 Dually and had the death wobble problem. My dealer replaced the tie rods and drag link, and that cleared it up. Then, a short time later, I was driving and hit a bump and it was death wobble all over again. Immediately went to the dealer and they found that the little stabilizer which looks like a small shock absorber was leaking, and they replaced that and balanced the front tires. Since then, I've had no more problems and that was about 8 months ago. The tie rod/drag link replacement was expensive, but the stabilizer wasn't too bad.

Just got an alignment done today, the guy there was curious about the Lukes I had on the ends and on the pitman. He said it made the trucks steering really tight. I did have a new track bar and left inner tie rod put in on monday, I also have Skyjackers dual steering stabilizers, and I too can hit some mean bumps on the road and the lovely feeling of the front end falling apart is gone. Monday I'm puttin on some 33 inch Super Swamper SSRs, see how these affect things. My BFGs lasted 50,000 miles and still got meat on um.
