Engine Oil Pan Gasket Sealing ! Put mine in the shop for oil around rear of engine oil pan . Was'nt dripping ,just all wet. The Dealer called and said it was the gasket. They got to drop the trans. to replace it . Just another heads up. Thanks Mike

My 98. 5 is doing this, Anybody got this TSB on line yet? Guess the 100K covers oil pan gaskets?

I'd like to know if this is covered under the 100,000 also.

It's covered under the 100K warranty. I would tighten up the oil pan bolts first and use die to confirm the leak before I let the dealer lift the engine and drop the transmission. To many things they could screwup over a wet oil pan. If I still really wanted it fixed I would wait until I had 95K miles on it and then do it (maybe it will quit by then, if not it is still covered under warranty). If it is not dripping the cure could be worse then the problem

@ 94,300 is this now really covered?

Went to http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/tsb/2001/09-006-01.htm to check this out, it looks as if it's just instructions on where to apply silicon sealer to the gasket. No statements other than thanking some dealer for supplying the TSB?



I'm at 94,300 and my pan is always moist around the back. It's not from the breather tube as it's relocated beyond the trans and down. Valve cover is fine too.



Anyone really know if this is an up to 100k covered item? I'd like to know before I get out of warranty, which will be after we return from this year's vacation to the Grand Canyon in July.

Thanks for the quick reply. I recall having to use magic words to get the dealers attention/get it covered under warranty to get the lift pump replaced like - performs poorly with load (I've never towed anything) and pressure is lower than 10# at idle.



Are there any similar "magic" words to use to ensure warranty coverage? How long was your truck in the shop?

I would just clean it, then keep an eye on it.



An Engine Oil leak will attract dirt

An ATF Oil leak will chean the dirt away.

Joe Mc, all i did was call and make an appointment. I already had a pretty good idea it was covered by warranty. I really can't say how long it took,i dropped it off Tuesday morning and did'nt get it back until Wed. afternoon,you know how that go's , it probably did'nt get looked at right away.

I would live with the oil leak before I let a dealer raise the motor and drop the trans. I agree with Pitbull that the cure could be worse than the problem.

I fixed my leak. Nothing like re-torqueing the bolts to slow it down. Then I towed my TT on a pretty long trip. Bye-bye oil leak. By the way, I looked at the pan and I'm not sure the transmission would have to be dropped to fix that leak. It looks like the pan could be dropped enough to get the old gasket off. Tell me why this might present a problem, other than a stiff neck, that is.

Just got my warranty workorder today in the mail . The total time for labor was 5. 2 hrs, which also included a oil change .
