Is this a warranty repair or something that we pay for out of pocket? I have not had any belts shredded but I do hear the belt chirp. I always figured it was something I had to deal with as a result of owning a high compression diesel.

I just lost my second belt thursday night at Lowes. It went the same way as the first which only lasted about 2000 miles. About a third of the belt got shredded around the Fan hub. When i had it replaced the first time i was not charged a dime and they replaced the tensioner pulley.

I have the all inclusive, zero deductable warranty from dodge and my truck has just over 50,000 miles. The dealer called me and said they had to order a new pulley (not sure which one) and i would have to pay $280 for troubleshooting and a new belt. I also had to go all the way down to BWI to get a rental car which i had to drive to New Hampshire yesterday.

All i can say is that dealer is getting an earful when i get back and i better get reimbursed for my rental which is included in the extended warranty. It's to bad because i had my truck towed pretty far to a dealer i thought i could trust.

P. S My belt has never chirped

One more thing, when i started the truck up it sounded funny so i popped the hood. While it was running i looked down and could see the belt was coming off the power steering pulley and then it got cought in the fan.

If the pulley causes the belt to shred shouldn't that be under warranty? If it broke the fan and sent it into my intercooler would i have had to pay for that too?

Is a TSB covered under warranty or do we pay?
Technical Service Bulletins are free as long as you are under your warranty for the specific component in question like the door seals TSB would be free for 3/36K.

Has anyone done the engine system enhancement TSB 18-022-06
The P0514 battery temp rationality fault code fix listed in that TSB would be a plus, I get that one but only if I move a cold truck into a warm shop it will do it when I back out the next day.

The new DTC P0169 - WIF Too Long Error will be good for techs to taddle on owners not draining the separator.
