Here's the latest on FCA's new RAM HD transmission..

So my 18' I bought used 14k mi shifts great no shudder, no slamming. I did go by the dealer and they plugged in and asked if there were any updates I needed he said no. I am out of the 3yr warranty are they going charge me? If its shifting fine should I still do it?

Any Update should be done, no matter if you have to pay for or not.
They do them for a reason, it can keep you from ending at the side of the road in a rainy night.

A new flash is available. 18-061-20. It addresses lots of items and added new features. It also lists transmission 5-4 flare and transmission performance improvements. I have an appointment for next Friday to get it loaded.

So after doing this update, later and separate from the first 2018 Aisin flash, I notice it can't make up it's mind in a parking lot. It decides to upshift 1-2 about the time I let off on the slight throttle with a clunk. IMO they need to leave the damn thing in 1st a little long and further select first sooner when slowing down via MPH not wait for TPS position to apply throttle. There is no reason to leave 1st gear at parking lot speeds esp. when speed bumps are around.

ONLY thing I would change about my AISIN would to be able to running BobTail start in second gear. It's a HE!! of a gear for launching on grade with 35k combined.

Do you have the most recent flash? They've had several including a PCM flash.

Are there any newer 2018 flashes than the 18-061-20 one I had quoted? I did that one after the trans update. It’s still way better than before on the 1-2 elimination of shudder or slamming the shift.

I have to point out and request specific updates from the dealer.
