Tried to get my dealer here in Eureka,Ca. recently to complete the TSB for quicker winter time warmups at idle(flashing computer). I approached it like a warranty complaint that it was impossible to preheat the truck by letting it idle in freezing weather. They asked me if I was using the block heater. I told them no since I was staying mostly at hotels when I was encountering the freezing temps. They told me there was no such TSB except for the one about using #1 fuel. All they did was drive around the block and said it was heating up fine. Has anyone living in warmer climes been able to get their local dealer to do this TSB,or are these guys just lazy because it doesn't get that cold around here?

Went to a dealer in Hamilton, N. J. they have a 24 hour Mon - Fri operation! With diesel Techs on all shifts! I printed the TSB (forget the number but it's in the TSB section here) and showed it to the Service Rep. He said "oh boy, gotta love the internet" I asked him if they could do it. He went to the Tech and returned to tell me the tech, who has a hot rodded diesel p/u said it was a waste of time, didn't need it but they would do it for $40 if I wanted them to. I have no problem pluging in @ work & home - I pondered a while and decided to pick up a case of Guiness Extra Stout:D on the way home instead. It does get pretty cold here at night - so far it's been a mild winter though. I may have it done before next year - not sure yet. My $. 02

thanks, yogi

Tell me, I have an 01. 5 ram special order and I couldn't get power, heated, flip up mirrors. Dodge makes them now, so I'm going to add them on. Question is how did you get them?

Thats a long story. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I have the prototype that was made for DC, but DC decided to not make them for the 2nd Gen. 2500 & 3500's. Anyway I got them.

I have a friend that does not like the flip up (heated/electric) mirrors and offered to swap. :--) Well I called to see if the 01' and my 99' would fit. He (the parts dude) said they have the same kit number (part number). I asked how much for the kit? He said $375!

Now I have to wait for my friend to make up his mind. I tell him lets do it, he says wait. :-{} He says I will make up my mind when I am ready. I say

Well you got lucky,I have to make the '02 third gen's work on mine,I pull alot of trailers that are 8. 5 wide, gettin' tired of manually adj. the mirrors, drivers side isn't bad but the passenger side,in,out,in,out,in,out, you get the picture.

Sorry

Boy, did we get off topic... I am really sorry for the intrusion. :(

I did decide to go with the PSHI for ease of use and didnt have to worry about going to the stealer for the TSB's. IMHO or . 02 worth... take your choice. :D
