TSB on 6CD changer failure on recorded CDs

I had my 6 CD in dash stock unit replaced this summer the CD changer got jammed and would not work. The dealer said I can not use CD's that I have made,only prerecorded ones , there was a bulletin . Does that sound right?

Something smells fishey!!!Don't see how one you recorded could jamb it. All thing is doing is reading the disc.

My dealer said the same thing and gave me a copy of the bulletin. My problem is that the CDs won't eject when the unit is cold. After it has warmed up it works just fine. It also plays my personally recorded CDs just fine. I had a similar problem with the factory CD player in my '96 Ram except it wouldn't play the CDs when it was cold but it would eject them hot or cold. Go figure!

sometimes when mine is cold it will eject a cd r/w it will say cd error and eject it. I just load it back up and it works fine. Other wise mine works fine. DAVE... .

I just had the whole unit changed out. I was getting "CD ERROR" on the display. I had 4 store bought CD's and 2 home mix's in it at the time. When I was in there, the only thing the writer said, was that they don't guarantee the copies will operate properly.

I'm on my third RBQ unit. I've had discs stuck in the first two. I don't have home burned units, they have all been commercial discs. They would play then show error or play and get stuck during the disc shuffle. After working at the dealerships, I know it takes a few revisions to fix problems so hopefully this won't happen again. I don't listen to my cd's enough to warrant this happening.

Not really an answer for your problem but my '98 wouldn't play CD's I burned in the CD burner, but would if I burned then in the DVD burner, have no Idea why. The single CD + Tape in this truck plays all with no problem.

I use my CD player with home burned CD's and have had no problem yet. Still have less than 5k miles on my 04, so I could be in for surprise soon.

Just got the dreaded ERR code on mine this past weekend. Shut it off for about an hour, popped out the store bought disc that was causing me trouble, popped it back in and everything works fine. Go figure.

This is TOTAL BS. I had my cd changer go wacko on the second day I had the truck. It did have burned/labeled cd's in it. They replaced the radio and sent me back my cd's (which surprised me), although they put a big sticker on either, do not use recorded cd's with CD LABELS on them. Apparently they claim the cd labels are the issue, not recorded cd's. This is total nonsense though, because I've been using recorded cd's with CD Stomper labels on them for years in every other cd and dvd player I have with no problems. They clearly have a POS radio and want to blame the consumers for their failures. I have continued to use burned and labeled cd's in the replacement radio of my truck with no problems. Bottom line, I think they have a lot of defective/crappy units out there.

I agree, however I did not have labels, my unit jammed and would not eject anything. I think the recordable discs might be a different thickness? Telling me I cannot use them is very annoying, why do we accept these situations , years ago when cassette tapes were used that excuse would be totally unexceptable. #@$%!
