Ok Im getting bad MPG and i was told there is a TSB for this 18-037-04

But I didnt see it listed on the TSB section.

Has any one had this done and did you gane MPG? Is there any reason why i should'nt get this done.

What is it ? Im thinking it is a Reflash?

Thanks Dave

Dave, yes, that does apply to your truck, and yes, it is a reflash. A dealer should be able to run the VIN to see if it has been done. I had mine done in October 2004. Mind you, prior to the TSB, my overhead was accurate to within 0. 2 mpg of hand-calculated. I did not have the white smoke issue, I just wanted it done to see if it would help my mileage. Here's what it did for me:

1. Computer-calculated mileage went up by almost 2 mpg. Actual hand-calculated did nothing. In other words, all it did was make my computer inaccurate.

2. Really tightened up the shifting of the 48RE, especially Overdrive. No more whoooommmmppppp..... going into OD. Much cleaner.

I think it was worth it for the improved shifting, but if you're looking for better mileage, forget it. Get it done, it can't hurt.

P. S. - My mileage is the the crapper at the moment, also. (In the 11s, where I'm normally in the 12s). The combination of the very cold weather and winter blend fuel does it. How much did you lose on your PSD with winter fuel. I lost almost 2 mpg on mine (the PSD).

I had mine done last year also. At the time I did have white smoke at cold startup, and overhead calculation of almost 1mpg low compared to hand calc'd.

After the TSB flash the only difference I saw was the overhead went to 2mpg higher than hand calc'd. No mpg change that I could determine, or any other change for that matter. Truck was basically stock at this time except for air intake and muffler.

The white smoke was fixed with a new #6 injector about a month or two later.

My hand calculated milage went up about 1-1/2 MPG after the reflash. I'm consistanty getting 20+ MPG empty around town.

My 2004 Dodge falls In this to be done

I just got back from the dealership and they are going to do It Friday morning the first thing. So I want to thank you for this Information.

Scott I never really seen a differance In the PSD it was 10 all the time.

Mine does have a shift flair going into OD all most like a dubble shift. Is that what it fixes?

And will it cost me $100. 00 to have it done Or do they do the TSB for free.

Im the sec. owner with 42K on the play clock

Yep. Mine did that bad, and this TSB fixed that right up. They shouldn't charge you if you go in and say that your "mileage is poor, your overhead is inaccurate, and you have white smoke at startup. "

When I took mine in last year, the dealer said their database said my truck shipped with the flash. I had all the problems the TSB addressed so they hooked up the computer to it and it had not been flashed at the factory so ask the service manager to double check even if the VIN check says you're good.
