I just got my #10 plate 330-750 and a AFC spring kit the truck runs great but had to slide the plate back . 095 thousands to keep EGT down, will the 4" exh, kit help this out or a new turbo. How long will my stock clucth hold out. If I put a 4" exh kit and a new turbo I should be able to slide my plate forward right. Also had to slide plate back because of the smoke cloud.

ski2,

Your clutch will hold out as long as you don't use full power! #ad
Otherwise, start saving for a new clutch. You might consider the updated fifth gear nut (if you don't already have it) and the redesigned output shaft from Standard Transmission. That's what I'm going to do if I do any more bombing.

I think a 4" exhaust system (turbo back) will help your EGT. Whether it will be enough I don't know. With my #11 plate and 4" exhaust, I can't get more than 900 Deg. (post turbo).

Hope this helps.

4" will help very little compared to 3" with low restriction muffler. You really need the 16 cm2 housing--that is the big restriction, once again it is the same size as a 1. 53" ID single exhaust pipe. Who whould try to run 350 hp through a single exhaust that is too small for a pootcar?

The #10 dyno's at 345 hp, 860 ft lb at the wheels. Your clutch will scream for mercy. BTW, I got another 10 hp going from stock lube to Torco 75-140 syn in the diff with the #10. Moving the #10 back 0. 035" takes away about 28 hp. How much power do you want to leave on the table? OTOH pushing it forward quickly gets you into egt problems, big time, even with the 16cm2 housing on the HX35 turbo. Hence the reason for the HX40.

what size of hx40 would you go with, if I go with the 16cm2 housing how much turbo lag will i have at 9,000 feet, also with the #10 plate slide forward where the stock one was why was there so much smoke when under full boost, is this normal when you start to make more hp. What clucth would you go with.

Also need some feed back on what injector should I use with the #10 plate, and for the elevation that i'm at. Will this help my performance alot or a little.
Thanks for all the help,
Brian

With a #10 plate and high altitude, it will probably always smoke like an old train, no matter what you do. Mine smokes pretty good up there until the boost comes up good - and the boost come up real slow at that altitude. I've been considering propane for the mountain passes and not make any more mechanical changes to my engine. Smoke and driveability are both very good with the setup I have now. Power is very respectable too!I wouldn't need very much more power to stay in 5th gear from Dillon to the tunnel(towing)the way it is. Craig

I fried my stock clutch as soon as I installed the #10 with a 16cm housing. I did install the plate all the way forward with the afc spring kit (light spring). I went with the Mcleod unit from Van Haisely in Indiana. this clutch has handled every thing but a 3900 rpm launch at a truck pull. It did grab after slipping about 150 ft, and burning about $600 worth of lining. I don't have any idea what kind of horsepower I'm running, but I'm still spinning in fifth gear going down offramps. I understand Joe Donnely has been working on a single disc setup based on the sachs clutch from the first gen trucks, that is showing great promise. I know when I need my next one I am going to talk to him. With my current setup I can peg my EGT gauge at 1500 deg. in no time flat. This setup will blow a cloud big enough to Block lighting at a nightime truck pull.
