Put a tst 11 plate in last week, the truck comes on good after 1700 rpms and only in 3rd,4th and 5th geers, I guess it needs a load. Did I put it in the right place or is this the way they all run... .

If you want more bottom end loosen the afc housing and slide it forward a little at a time until you are happy with the power and smoke.
Or you can take the allen off the top of the afc and start clicking the "star" wheel forward for the same kind of affect.

Everybody keeps saying to move the afc wheel so many clicks, after putting in my plate when I adjusted the wheel I have never noticed any clicks the wheel justs turns with a little resistance. The wheel is just visible at the front of the hole (towards grill) so I do not think I am past any clips for the star wheel to ingage or am I? Anybody have any ideas.

Thanks,
Paul

Dr Bob, with my setup it comes on about 1500 but I have tweaked on the boost elbow by tightening the screw just a bit. When ya get to pulling a good load you will really see the difference around the 1800 to 2100 mark. I wonder what you are getting for boost. Mine tops out about 28 to 30lb. Just curious. One thing about it though and that is ya will definately like the added power at the lower RPM.

Dr. Bob,

If you're #11 is centered & you want to fool around, pull the afc housing & take your scribe & make a couple of scratches on the top of the pump, along the front edge of the plate. This will mark center so you don't have to use the black plastic piece. Then loosen the 2 screws & slide it all the way forward. Scribe a couple more on the front edge of the plate in the top of the pump. Now you've got center & all the way forward marked.

It's now easy to eyeball 1/4, 1/2 & 3/4 of the way forward for monkeying around. Just for grins, move it 1/2 the way forward & when you put the afc housing back on, tap it forward until it stops. You'll be surprised at the gain in low end & top end. #ad

I'm getting 30# of boost but only in 3rd,4th and 5th gears, the boost hardly moves 1st and 2nd... ... .

That sounds about right, depending upon altitude. I'm @ 5000' & running the #11 all the way forward I was @ 32psi. Backed off to center, less fuel, less boost, so 30psi sounds right. #ad
