 ive just installed the TST #11 power kit into my 97 2500 5sp 3. 54 with "high flow cat", high flow air filter , and straight pipe exhaust. im unsure if im making full power. i do feel an increase in power and response but ive read and ive been told that this kit will produce 36psi. im only making about 32psi max. it puts out about as much black smoke as my stock plate did with my afc adjusted. i talked to mark at TST and he says it seems fuel starved. he recommended i extend fuel bypass valve spring to 1/2" & check for boost leaks . ive done those with no change in my #'s. my kit is installed per instructions -housing is full forward, and ive backed off star wheel so far that it doesnt even touch the spring! ive checked the wastegate movement with compressed air-it seems to be moving pretty far. ive blocked off the wastegate line and still only had 32psi. the fuel filter is new and ive just cleaned the strainer too. am i missing something?? any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Yep, 32psi ... that's about right, if I remember right. Now I'm @ 5000', which lowers it. At sea level, it was 38psi.

Have someone sit behind the wheel and floor the throttle (engine off). Reach in and make sure you're getting full travel on the rod that goes to the pump.

Sometimes carpet, floor mats or improper adjustment from new cause lack of WOT.

If you would have left your exhaust stock you probably would have 36 lbs. of boost. Boost is basically the resistance of air flow. The more air you flow out, the less boost you are going to have. On my truck, i was making 37 lbs. with the stock exhaust. I then installed a ATS manifold, 16 cm turbo housing, and a 4 in. exhaust. My boost dropped all the way to 31. But i had more power and less smoke. So boost isn't everything sometimes.

Low 30s about right

My truck also does the low 30s or so when it is clean burning and smoke free. Once RPMS get over 2900 (3GSK) the black smoke shows up, boost rises to 35+ and EGTS peg 1500..... running out of air.

If you really want to get more boost (may not be usable) slide the plate ahead 3/4 or so. I could get by with the plate 3/4 forward with similar setup as you until I added the GSK. The higher RPMS just need more air. Even with the 16cm housing and the higher timing I still get to warm in the 3K range on up.

32lb of clean buring boost is as good as it gets with the turbo setup anyway.

36psi all day

i basically have the same truck except i have straight pipe all the way. i put the plate and everything else just like the kit says and i got 36psi no problem. interesting???

When mine hits 32lbs defuels and drops to 30lbs. . If I watch the boost gauge and shift between 30-32lbs. . the power stays right there.

Even on the harded hills pulling 10k. . 30lbs seems to be the sweet spot. RPMs is about 2200 and MPH is 55-60. Waiting to see what happens with the 16 cm housing on the same hill. All the numbers above are with the stock HX35/12. Right now its packing a PDR HX35/14cm and soon to have the new 16 cm housing. .

32 is what I got with my #11 also

I could feel more power but like you I wasnt sure if that was all I would or could get. But we gotta remember adding 70 hp to a 8000 lb truck is not going to feel the same as adding 70 hp to a 3100 lb Cuda. Where I became satisfied with the #11 is when I pulled Rye hill. Before with the stock plate and trailer in tow 44 mph tops. After the #11 same hill and load 57 mph.

Truth is we need to dyno before and after every mod to evaluate it. I for one cant afford that.

Has anyone bought the pocket dyno at Genos ? Is it any good?

With my #11 centered, I could make 34-35#... With the plate full forward, it would push 40# until I adjusted the boost elbow back to 36#.

With my #11 about 3/4 + forward, and the governor arm re-adjusted, I get around 36 to 38 lbs of boost.

My brother and I bought the pocket dyno from Genos. It must be fairly accurate. You do need to run the truck all out to get a good reading, and they do vary a little with each run. With my setup, #11 forward, 3K GKS, governor arm adjusted, housing full forward, and star wheel backed off, my best run was 315 hp. :D My brothers 24V with box only came in around 275hp. I also had 1 run @310hp, one @ 314hp, and one down around 285hp. No changes to the motor were made for these runs. EGT were very high at the end of these runs. EGT's can be controlled with the right foot. I do not see these high EGT's with normal driving or when towing my boat of around 6000#.

Send the #11 plate back and get he #10 (no charge) the slide it full forward. You'll be impressed. I run staright pipe (all the way) and I get 45 psi of boost. Holeshot might chime in here to advise that the turbo isn;t really meant for that (25 or 38 psi I think is what is max) but I love it!!!!!

I'm with BWilson; I have the #10 in stock position and although I only have a 35# boost guage, the needle rips right past the 35 and points at 6 O'Clock, right between the screws that hold the dial face on. Looks to be in the low 40's or therabouts.

I just got the 13" clutch installed and am saving my nickles for a Piersified HX-40; I just hope my stock turbo holds together until then.

thanks to all who replied! i feel a little more confident now that my truck is running ok. when i was driving it yesterday , i realized that when i wind-out 2nd and 3rd gears on dry pavement , i was breaking the tires loose! wouldnt do that before.
