With great interest read Emerald5. 9 question about his 94.

My question is the same about my 96. Don't know quite which way to go. Do pull 5th wheel but don't want to tear it up either. Have gages. 230/605 or 280/680 is the question. At this point probably wouldn't do anything else. However when I need it , I use it!

All input will be appreciated. Thanks!

Jerky:

What I did in lieu of the plate , was the 370 injectors with the pump increased to 233 cc pumping of fuel and the timing to 24. Power plus a lot less smoke than the plate. I am over 300 HP with a clean burning diesel. That reads less smoke.

TT,

Wow, 24 degrees on a 5 speed truck?

Thats sounds kinda high to me. I thought I was up there at 16.

Jerky,

I went with the 280 out of the gate and have since gone even larger. I did find the 280 slid forward made me about 310HP on the dyno. The stock 12cm exhaust housing was a restriction and led to higher EGT's for me. I went to the 16cm housing and reduced EGT's and got to 330hp on the dyno and never exceeded 1300 degrees.

I loved my 280 plate in the stock position too. That is until I wanted more power. You wont believe the power increase with the 280 plate. It is real nice!!

Do you have gauge or are you planning on getting them. If so go with the #11, if not stick with the #12.

I started with the #12 and was very happy with it until I started hanging out with these bomber dudes:cool: :D  . Then I got the bug and don't think it will ever end.

That number 10 will make you and anyone a ton of HP slid a few thou forward.

Im still laughing about the whole thing actually.
