Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) tst 3 gsk kit install ?

i bought a tst 3gsk kit for my 94 with 5speed andtst#5plate. it says a couple of things in the instuctions that are puzzling me. first it says to go through the top of the pump,can i just go through the side where the plug is that way i am less likely to drop something in the pump?also it saysi need to have a #4plate for my year and pump or it may run worse. that concerns me. or should i not worry about it?also do i really need calipers or count the clicks what ever that is thanks no really thanks

I went in through the side. As you say, it reduces the chance of dropping something inside. Piers web site has instructions for that method.

It has been a long time since I put mine in but the calipers are handy. Follow the instructions.

I have a #5 plate in my 94 and am happy with it.
