TST #5 plate

Just added the TST #5 plate, wow what a difference. Took the truck out on the freeway the midrange acceleration is incredible. Can't wait to add the DTT TC/VB in the next couple of months.



I now have discovered that the abs and brake light come on when idling through parking lots and using the brakes. This is something that I have only experienced when backing a trailer and using the brakes. The last time this happened I was told this was normal due to the vacuum pump not being able to provide enough vacuum for the braking system.



I checked the vacum lines to see if any of them had come loose or came in contact with the engine causing a hole, but was unable to locate any problems.



Has anyone experienced this problem, or know what might be causing this condition.

I've also got the #5. You won't believe the difference the DTT VB/TC makes. No more "flat" spots with lots of noise and no action. Of course, with the #5 and the DTT TC making such a good connection to the ground it will smoke like a forest fire if you really stand on it.



I've had the ABS/brake warning light problem for quite some time now. No one really knows how to fix it. The suggestion in one thread some time back was to replace the wire from the pick up on the rear differential with a twisted pair. I did that but it didn't help so I put it back like it was. Now my symptoms had changed. The warning lights come still come on, but now after a while they reset and turn off! I can live with that, but it's still a big puzzle!

Joe, I had your problem too. Lucky it was still under warranty. The dealer did two things, one of which I have never found but it was on the work order. They put in what they called a wire "overlay" somewhere in the circuit. I cannot find it when I look at the wiring, it is not to the rear diff sensor. Second, they replaced the rear diff sensor. They did the overlay first and that made the problem intermittent. When I took it back they replaced the diff sensor and it never failed again. The first time I took it in the abs and brake lights were on all the time so both fixes helped.

I replaced the sensor first thing and that didn't help at all. My warning lights were not on all the time. It was an intermittant problem. Later the symptoms changed so that if the truck sat still the lights would come on after a minute or so. The speed of the engine had no effect. If I sat there with it reved up the lights would still come on. If I let it idle and creeped a little bit the lights would not come on. That would sure sound like the sensor so I replaced it again. No effect. Then in a thread that discussed this problem someone reported that the dealer had replaced the wire from the sensor to the connection under the dash with a twisted pair. I tried that but that had no effect on the problem. When I replace the stock setup I had to repair the place I had cut the wire near the sensor. Now it will come on if the truck just sits with the engine running, but after I pick up a little speed the lights will reset to the off state. They will remain that way until I am stopped for about a minute. If you can figure out where the "wire overlay" is I would sure appreciate it. The way it works now is kind of a nuisance but I would like to get it fixed once and for all.

A friend had a similar problem. He just has rear wheel ABS.



The sensor was replaced - didn't help.



The wiring from the sensor to the body was replaced - that worked.



Apparently somthing happened to the wiring.

Joe, it's possible there is a TSB on the "overlay". I did talk to the tech after he replaced the sensor and he said they always made them do the overlay first because that fixed about half of them. I never asked where the overlay was and later when I examined all the wiring I couldn't see where he did anything. I believe he said it had something to do with corrosion. Wish I could be more help but this was several years ago. It was some sort of official Dodge fix though.
