Currently have a TST #8 and have put in the bigger 215 injectors, will soon have a GSK 3k installed. Considering upgrading to a bigger plate #6. Good idea/bad idea? What can I expect with this change and GSK? EGT's don't seem to be too much of a problem currently, mainly due to the 4" and aFe. Will the current turbo housing handle the combination of the #6 AND the GSK? Will this put a lot more strain on the transmission? Will I need to put in an AFC spring kit to control smoke?

Thanks - Terry

There's so little improvement over what you have if you go to a #6 that I wouldn't bother with it and would go right on to the max - a #5. The only caveat that TST places on using the #5 for autos is that a STOCK trans. won't handle it. Your DTT trans. will handle it easily.

Once you have the plate in you'll be able to discover what other steps you may need to take in order to cope with higher exhaust temps. You might well find that you have no other problems and go your way with the hottest plate they make.

I have a similar set up in my 97, with a Goerends tripple TC, & pretty much stock transmission. My #8 moved forward about 1/16", the 215's, the 3K GSK, & a K&N in a stock box full of 1" holes, gives me about 300 RWHP/700 torque. I have a hollow cat, & stock exhaust. You should be able to show better dyno #'s with the bigger exhaust, but I'm satisfied with stock for now. I rarely see exhaust temps over 1100, but boost will hit 33lbs. If it ever needs replacement, I might go bigger. (190k on original now & still good) The #8 might be good for still more HP by tweaking the plate location, & a gov. lever adjustment.
