well spent this evening installing the pmcr on a buddys truck. first impression is this box is junk, however I will reserve the right to change my mind. we pulled out of my drive heading down the road on setting 6/6 truck felt ok, turning around he changed the setting to 9/9 hit it and just as it started to build boost POW, shaft in turbo bit it  . how many has this happened too? and do they know what caused it to happen? right now my truck with just the EZ is much better.

Don't know the specs of your buddies truck and what's been BOMB'ed, but if the turbo was stock... what else would you expect? Starting out on 6/6?

Wow that sucks. I think with a stock turbo 9/9 was pushing it a little hard. I have heard of TST's taking turbos on 7/7. I guess now is a good time to upgrade!!

Amazing, simply Amazing...

This reminds me of a guy that bought a 4. 5 truck and put the TST from his 03 on it RIGHT WHEN he got home. Well he did not hook up the egt and he did not hook up the wastgate tubing...

Well he rails on it at level 8/4 and broke the input shaft, he said he was at 40 PSI, WELL DUH! The tst stops reading at 40 psi (factory map sensor) - It was more like 50+

repeat after me - RESPECT the power, AND SELF-RESTRAINT IS MY FRIEND

The stock turbo was NOT designed to go from 0-40+ psi on a DIME - and the TST fuels based upon boost, so the more it gets, the faster it build...

I have a SO motor, and have NEVER, I repeat NEVER went past level 7 (thats like level 4 on a HO motor) - I know if I did, I may not like what would happen

If it was a stock turbo you had running 9/9, I could've told you the results before it happened. I don't have much room to talk though, I chunked a B-1 in 2 days on 7/7 (aggressive prog. ), but I was already heavily fueled. My suggestion is don't go over 5/5 unless you have twins.

A chunked B-1??

That must have been one weak B-1... John Isaac ffrom "Floor-it Diesel" made 647hp (in person - High Ridge,MO) with a B-1 (of course, now that I think, That was on a DYNO, so that could be why, Street VS dyno))

that totally stinks, I might have lost my temper over that

One things for sure -- always wastgate with a tst box

I like my TST. It's not much off the bottom, but the torque dog takes care of that. It was sure fun blowing the stock turbo. Now I got a good one from HTT that will hold up to it. It doesn't spool as fast as stock, but it runs like a raped ape on top. I've also heard that you can send your TST box back and they will reprogram it for more bottom end.

TST box works great for me.

I have sledpulled and dynoed with the box up on 7 and never popped the stock turbo (I hooked up the wastegate line).

I now have a B1 with an operational wastegate, no problems so far.

RESPECT THE POWER (as previously stated!)

I hit 54 lb. boost which was probably a little high on 7/7. So I don't think it was a weak B-1, I'm just hard on things. The turbo was bulit by Ken here in Phoenix... and rebuilt :D . Hopefully things turn out better this go round.

Just gotta remember to respect the POWER!

These newer turbo's just ain't like the old ones now, are they? Think I'll keep my itty bitty EZ box for now and let you big boys figure out what blows up who knows what !!! :D

first impression is this box is junk
A bit of reading here and some forethought would have prevented that. You can't blame the box for doing what you asked of it. By turning it up to 9/9, you said, "give me all the fuel you can, as quick as you can". It did just that. How was it to know you weren't running it on a twin-turboed truck, with all the other appropriate upgrades to handle that amount of power?

how many has this happened too?
Just about everyone who tried to run the box on full power with a stock turbo.

and do they know what caused it to happen?
Lots of fuel, lots of heat, weak stock turbo.

Your friend shot himself in the foot. Don't blame the firearm for discharging the round when he squeezed the trigger.

I agree with most here that is aking a bit much. but a reminder of the tst adds we all see in our tdr books that say " power is made with a stock truck other than clutch and pusher pump" so I guess that would lead many to think they can run the tst at the levels the manufacturer says is possible? granted I would have waited myself but the end result would have been the same eventually. Like the local shop I deal with said we don't sell the tst for a reason. I am not bashing the product or the maker.

All TST is saying is that the truck CAN make that much more power with the box attached (dyno proven by the way!).

There is no indication of it being a safe power.

But, it can be made safe (turbo(s), clutch, pumps, etc. )

If I wanted safe, I wouldnt modify my truck :D

level 9

I have had a TST for 6 mo. I have sledpulled, dragraced and dynoed on 9 with the stock turbo with out a problem other than 0 fuel psi and high EGT's! I am changing to a B1-04 shortly because I know I am going to kill the turbo soon if I don't!

I think I am getting it now, I asked mark about the stocker holding with level 9 - His 03 stocker is still holing up, and you KNOW how hard he has been on it

I think (like the guy I know) - That people maybe forget/ignore the wastegate hook up - And then make an OBSCENE amount of boost - Thus no matter what charger you use, the results are 50+ lbs and not many singles will hold up with that :)

I have been running my TST since they came out and I and anyone whom knows me will tell you "I DO KNOW WHERE THE GO PEDAL IS" I am known to be able to break just about anything and the highest I have run with the reflashed TST program is 8-7 and my stock turbo is still holden up fine although it is on the list to be replaced.

Respect the power

How could you not like the power of 6-6?

Hey Tomeygun did you ever get the SUPER B turbo?
