OK..... I installed a TST box with built in gauges saturday on a friends 03 QC 3500 DRW SO/auto.

First of all I would like to thank everyone at TST and all the hard work they put into making that box. The instructions were awesome I never had to second guess anything in them. I was supprized how smooth the whole operation went.

I have a few questions about the settings on the box. I figured out how to set the max EGT, and understand how that works. Im pretty sure how the torque setting works. But after setting the Torque to the desired level then hitting the lil' grey button again to get back to the EGT and boost readings "screen". I get another "screen" that reads BT i believe in the same spot and the "torque Enhance" (TE) shows up in. And I believe there was a number in the 90's that showed up in the EGT slot along with the BT.

Can anyone explain what that is?

The box performs nicely, I did test it on all of the settings even the higher settings 7-9 even though it is an other wise stock (except for an afe kit and straight piped) truck :p But im young and dumb for lack of a better term. :D Plus you guys cant tell me you didnt:p Man do these things get hot in a hurry. I had the max EGT set at 1320 I believe I had the bot set on 9 :--) or so :p driving down the road about 45mph and stand on it and she smokes like a coal train and defueled shortly there after when I glanced down to take a look at the gauges I saw that the display was blinking like it does with it defuels and saw 16?? on the EGT display. So I set the box back to where I knew my friend with no will power would not blow up his trans and sent him on his way, and told him if he likes driving his truck to at the least get a Torque converter and a VB asap. Good work TST.

It aint no 12 valve but she does the trick. Oo.

There are 4 screens on the display. First is the driving display which shows egt's and boost real time. Second is the EGT cutoff setting. Third is the torque (Te) setting. And fourth is the one you asked about which is the temp of the box itself under the hood. I read somewhere is the box gets too hot it will shut down (thus the truck performaing as stock) until it cools. Not sure why it would get hot but I suppose safety features aren't always a bad thing ;)

BT is Box Temp... . As in the temperature of the box under the hood. Box has a shutdown if it gets too hot.

Though... I wonder if it shuts down... What happens to the motor??

Thanks for the info Guys.

As far as the EGTs on these new motors. How do you keep them down? Is it because of the small exhaust housing thats making them get so hot so fast or something else?

It won't shut down completely. I assume that what heats the box up is switching the ground paths for the injectors to increase the duration. If it got too hot, the injection events would revert back to stock duration.

Bigger turbo.

The tight turbo and the fact that this box will make 400 hp tend to be huge players in the heat department.
