Avoiding Fuel Filter Draining Mess

What exactly does this setting do? What is the fueling ramp look like? To me it sounds like it gives it a good amount of timing thats for sure, going down the freeway I switched from 03 Twins to Economy on 2x2 and there was a noticable timing rattle difference. Im not claiming its bad. I just want to know what exactly its doing on Econ setting. I already know about the 03, 05 and Standard program. By the way... being able to switch from program to program, is the best thing ever! Oo. If you have a TST and you dont have this option, send it in and get it done!

I agree... It was one of the best things I did getting my TST re flashed.

DEF worth the money... !

The boost control off with the 03 twins makes my SP66 spool super fast! Oo.

Whatever it does it works.

I drove from Texas to NY and averaged 24. 1mpg while empty and 17. 6 while pulling (38' pintle hitch tilt 12,500lb empty)

raychem,

does your MP8 have the programming in it to work with the TST, or is it a standard MP8? I have a standard one, and I can't tell if it's working, or not, and I have a rail pressure gauge.

I will have to try it I guess. The "Economy" word has kind of put it out of my thought process. I will say this that with my current triple stack (TST 05tt, 3/1, EZ 1, Smarty 4) my mileage in general is up about 2 mpg. I am averaging around 15mpg city and 19. 2mpg highway at 75-78mph. This is very good on my truck, much better than the TST and EZ only on any settings.

I just towed my toyhauler out to Utah 10,000 lbs, running the economax program from Columbus Indiana to Marysvale Utah, I had no change in mileage, 10. 5 MPG was the best i got.

On the way back i ran differant smarty programs alone and with TST 10. 5 MPG

This was with the cruise control set between 65 - 68 MPH

Same trip last year with twin turbos TST+ VA 3. 1 10. 5 MPG

Same trip 2 years ago stock turbo TST 10. 5 MPG

I have found nothing that will help, these were all calculated on my laptop with an excel program down to the 10th.

I give up.

Running empty i get great mileage 20-21 mpg.

Yeah. . mine is flashed for the tst. The mp-8 does not exceed 26. 7 psi. In other words it works without exceeding factory limits. The mp-8... how is it connected? Tst 1st or mp-8. Connect the mp-8 first so that it fuels down low and causes the tst to kick in sooner and you do feel it. Also on your tst... which program do you run or are running since they all reach full fuel at different boost levels. Do you have the factory cp or modded? I run the tst r49 w/rail and i can tell you with the tst on 5x1 and rp on level 2 tt03 without the mp8 and my rp is never above 22k psi floored until the pump catches up which is usually before a shift.

I have the MP8 plugged in first, although I have tried both ways. I even took the TST completely out, and saw no difference. I run the old twins program in the TST. Factory CP3, for now. I still see 25000+ on my rail pressure gauge. Maybe I just need to upgrade my TST so I can switch programs, and upgrade the MP8 and do a little more tuning. :D Thanks.

Yeah... you should feel a difference. Send the mp8 back to ts performance and have them check it out maybe a bad connector or something stupid and have it flashed for the tst. The tst flash changes the way the mp8 fuels. And about the tst... . I love the new box with the 4 programs built in and the rp adjustment. It is worth the money in my opinion.

the economy setting works by increasing injection timing by some 18* I believe, hence the rattle. In one of the old tdr issues... 51 or 52, there where articals on fuel economy... . tst was in that conversation and if I remember correctly they sad you needed something like 18* of timing for economy. Look at the old issues, it's in there somewhere.

when I had my 12v... 24* was normal for me and sometimes more... I experimented up to 35* but 24 was my "sweet" spot. The thing with timimg increases is that they are accompanied by an increase in cylinder pressure. The 3rd gens remember are infinate timing so its what the ecm, box, or programmer call for.
