TST & Edge..How much smoke?

Question. I'm looking at stacking an Edge on top of my TST. How much smoke am I looking at? I'm one of the few that could care less if my truck smokes. Really, I'm serious. The reason I'm asking is it something I'm going to need to be concerned with living in CA? OK. I know that answer. But am I looking at so much I can't drive it like I want to or am I going to have to baby it where ever I go. I've heard that this setup actually helps temps a bit, true?

I've had 'em stacked, and it actually runs better, smokes less, and gets better mileage with just the TST. I also got my best Dyno numbers with the TST only. I lost about 20hp on the Dyno with 'em stacked.

i plan to do that setup too here in the near future. It has the potentials to make quite a bit of smoke, for the most part u should probably be able to keep it under control i would think. i have also heard that some people blown head gaskets using the tst because it makes the turbo make more psi than the stock gasket can take, thought i dont see how the stock turbo could exceed 50psi. has anyone else heard of this happening?

I've heard that they are starting to write tickets for excessive smoke in at least one central ohio town

Thanks for some input. My main concern is driving it in CA with them stacked and the amount of smoke.

I have also heard that some people blown head gaskets using the tst because it makes the turbo make more psi than the stock gasket can take, thought I dont see how the stock turbo could exceed 50psi.

It has happened but it's generally caused by the excessive drive pressure and temps caused by pushing the tiny stock turbo too hard. I wouldn't worry too much about that, chances are your stock turbo will go before the head gasket if you're pushing that hard.

I'm not worried about the head gasket. It's fire ringed and got 14 head studs. I'm just concerned with driving it down the street if I'm going to get pulled over because of the amount of smoke.
