k. vickers, the best way I can describe how the #8 changes things is to compare it to a gasser, from lets say the 60's or 70's. One that had a 2v carb and you changed it out to a properly sized 4v carb. If you're old enough to have played like this, you'll remember how good it felt when the new secondaries came in; RPM went up at a dizzing rate and you were pushed back in the seat and grabbing another gear. Well that's how it was with my truck after the #8 and AFC adjustments. Even before adding the 215hp injectors, hills that with a loaded 4horse triler had required 3rd at 2500 RPM (30 mph?) could be handled in 4th at 55mph, no problem. Could likely have used 5th much more often, but I decided long ago to do all the hard work in 4th gear.

If I were doing it again, and did not plan on the exhaust/intake upgrades, I'd go with a #8 plate and be happy.

Now, having said all that, since I am going to make the necessary, in with the good air/out with the bad upgrades, I wish I had a bigger plate. If anyone wants to trade a 5 or 6 for my 8, lets talk.

You spends your money and youse takes your chances.
