Do you use a fuel additive ('03s only)

PATRIOT_Ram,

Thanks for the great info! I guess I am leaning toward the TST and going with a mild setting just enough to enhance the mighty CTD. I found with the pressure boxes that I have had on the power for towing was incredible and I would like that back, but just in a safer aspect.

Where does the TST plug in ? same connections as the EZ ?

4xquadrod - That is the case when using the TST + EZ stacked. Using the EZ elbow the boost on mine approached 50 which is way to high for the stock turbo.

yycguy - The EZ is simple, fuel pressure and MAP sensors which are easily accessible. The TST, however, has several connections, but no spliced or tapped wires. It connects to the battery, two fuses in the fuse box, MAP sensor, crank position sensor, cam position sensor, and three places on the injector wiring harness. It isn't difficult to install, but if you're looking for a box you will routinely take off to go to the dealer, the TST would take about 30 - 60 minutes each time you install or uninstall it as opposed to the 2 minutes of the EZ. The main thing is the location of the cam/crank sensors. They're accessed from under the truck on the front side of the engine -- VERY tight area to work in.

Lil red your super b is on its way shipping was 50. 00 dollars give me feedback on it if you can find the time thanks again Kyle

I got the Tst and it is great! I keep it on 9/9 all the time and try to discipline my right foot ( VERY difficult). It dyno'ed on TST's dyno @ 369hp/791tq on level 5/5. the EGT based defueling works well and is definitely necessary on the higher levels with the stock turbo

Yeah just a couple my rear tires are getting bald, and my clutch keeps slipping. . Otherwise not to bad... .

Ain't that the truth!!!

What have you guys been running on your EGT limit with the TST? I ran the recommended 1350 for a long time... then upped it to 1400. What's a safe setting for no tow situations (like passing people and just showing off for your buddies?) I will put it back to 1350 whenever I tow.

Got to give the nod to TST. The in-cab adjustability from mild to wild is fantastic, the max egt cutoff is in my mind a requirement unless you can afford truck payments & a new engine payment at the same time. With all the power combos, it has something for everyone. Stacked with the EZ, a lot of the harshness seems to go away, egt seems a little lower, and less smoke. Only downside is the 2 cps connections are a real pain. Whichever way you go, use your head and you should'nt have any problems.

Just Recently Got The TST

I love it. I have an 04. 5 6 spd with a little over 6K on it so my clutch is relatively new. Yesterday was the first day I drove on pavement that wasn't wet. I had it installed at TST in Columbus In. Met Mark and some of the guys and gals I had talked to on the phone. They are great folks.

First thing I noticed was that I really had a turbo cable of spooling up. The power comes on in 4th, 5th, & 6th and when it does hold on. I had mine set on 4/4 from the factory so to speak. I had to put it in 4wd just to keep the tires from slipping. The truck sounds better, more like a diesel. Mark explained that the sound was because of advancing the timing. Cummins retards the timing on the 600.

I kept it around 65mph on the way home and watched my overhead, TST on 4/4. I couldn't believe some of the numbers I was seeing. Now I know better than to trust that thing but it showed an increase of about 4mpg. I know it is really more like 1 or 2 at best. Will have to hand calculate from a full tank.

Interms of power let me explain it by a situation I had driving home from TST. Again keep in mind it was raining. I was in the fast lane passing and beginning to climb a large hill. I was trying to stay pretty close to 65mph so I wasn't stomping on it to pass. Someone came up from behind pretty fast so I started into the peddle. As I cleared the car I was passing the turbo spooled up pretty good and at about 70mph the back end kicked out because the tires couldn't hold traction, UPHILL! Now that is some serious torque and power. When my racing heart recovered and I could wipe the silly grin off my face I put it in 4wd and continued my ride home.

The manual suggests going no higher than 5/5 on a 6spd. I use this guideline where the sum of torque and power = no more than 10. I have tried 6/4, 7/3, 8,2 etc. Power without torque to me is silly so I try to have some. I just mainly wanted to see what was available in terms of HP on the higer settings (smoke, seat of the pants feel etc. )

I mainly keep at 5/4. I figure this is the most performance I can get and keep the stock parts for a while. On the TST website they have some dyno stats that indicate a stock 600 to get around 295HP and 515LBFT. Taking this into account, setting 5/4 is getting me a around 405HP and 755LBFT. Stock clutchs vary. I haven't felt my give yet but I don't want to push it. They say that it will give out around 800LBFT. If I go above 405HP I can see a difference in EGT's. Mind you they're not bad, infact very manageable with no load. I haven't even come close to 1350 with some hard acceleration runs. In terms of EGT's and towing I would stay within the recommendations of the TST website.

You can't beat the digital gauges. It's nice to be able to make sure my EGT's are below 300 before I turn my engine off.

All in all I'm very satisfied. I had the same decision to make between TST and Edge. I went with TST because of the EGT limit defueling, more power from the stock parts, gonzo power with a new clutch and pusher pump, built in gauges, TST in Columbus In. is relatively close to my home, they do testing for Cummins which is right down the streetfrom TST. Mark the owner used to work for Cummins and really knows his stuff. The way I thought about it was that I could have saved a couple of hundred getting Di procol gauges and Edge EZ but I wouldn't have had nearly the amount of adjustability, HP and Torque from the stock parts with the capability of future expansion. The remote module doesn't take up nearly as much room as a triple or double gauge mount and is very easy to see in the day with sun on it or at night. If you want you don;t have to look at them at all with the auto defueling based on EGT temp.

In all fairness I have never driven a truck with an Edge EZ and I'm by no means an expert. I have spent countless hours researching and talking to folks and am very happy with my decision.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks guys for all the posts, This is what makes a site like this a site to look at all the time for the info we all need. Thanks again Marc

Papa Delta, great post. Also thanks to PATRIOT_Ram the others for posting here.

I had mine for a few days. So far it's been fun but the darn rain is keeping me from really laying into it.

I have on equestion... a few times I wasn't paying attention... after the truck was already warm and I tried starting it without waiting... . just turned the key to crank. Got a really long crank... happened a few times.

I'm thinking... and I will test my theory today, that when you turn on the key it takes a few seconds for the TST electronics to initialize.

Anybody else notice this?

I'll tell you what... a couple times, set on 3/3 I laid into it and when it up shifted the power was real strong... . oh what a feeling. ALmost scary what it's capable of at higher settings.

I think I made the right choice mostly because one, it works as advertised and two... . it's got so many levels and guages built in.

Yo Hoot

I have noticed that when I turn my engine off my electronics stay on for a second or two more. I;ll have to look at that but I would tend to believe that you are right in thinking the electronics take a second to initialize. I remember Glenn at TST said something about the box having juice as soon as you turn the key and that was the reason they piggy backed the timing harness into relays 27 & 28.

I've heard of a couple other people noticing their start times are a little longer. I've never noticed it myself. There are times when I turn the ignition from "lock" to "start" without delay and it starts fine. But then again there were a couple times when it seemed to crank longer than normal, but it did that before I put any boxes on. :)

Now I understand what you mean

There are times when I turn the ignition from "lock" to "start" without delay and it starts fine. But then again there were a couple times when it seemed to crank longer than normal, but it did that before I put any boxes on.

This is exactly what I have noticed as well. For instance I may start the truck in the morning before taking my son to school and as soon as the block heater cycles off I turn the key over. I may let it run for a couple of minutes and then turn it off to go back inside for about five minutes. After coming back out I notice that it sometimes takes the grid heater a longer time to cycle and it seems to crank longer than when it was cold. My observation over the short life of the truck is that this is competely intermittent. I wonder if the TSB for white smoke takes care of this?

Mine didn't do it untill I installed the TST.

I don't think it's an issue. I think it's just a characteristic.
