Well, I have held out as long as I can. It will me here Monday. I plan on putting the remote in the ashtray. Anybody come up with a trick way to mount it in there? How does the cable mount to the control box? On the back, in from the side? The main box mount I have seen is generally velcroed to the fuse box cover. Has anybody come up with an alternative to the velcro strips? I was thinking of coming up with a plate to attach to the holddown screw or maybe something off the dipstick screw on the intake. Any pictures? I will be taking a 1000 mile trip shortly after install. Can't wait. Oo. I will let you know. Thanks

I personally wouldn't mount it to the motor anywhere for two reasons. One, the heat from the engine will make the box get hot and shut down till it cools. Second, because of the vibration of the motor. The fuse box is actually a perfect spot. There is fresh cool air and is sort of out of the way.

As for the remote, the cable is permanently attached, and exits from the left side. To make it exit the back, I simply took a knife and opened up a bit of a hole on the back, so I could have the cable exit through the back. I then filled the hole left in the side with some black silicone (this will make sense when you look at the remote).

As for mounting locations of the main unit, I've seen guys with Optima batteries mount them along the side of the battery tray. I was going to do that with mine when I installed my Optimas, but to tell you the truth, it fits so well on top of the fuse box (and is easily removed for access to the fuses), that I just didn't bother with it.

location of TST remote

I have received my TST and haven't installed it yet. I currently have the three gauge pillar mount and plan on mounting the TST remote above the top gauge to the windsheildwith suction cups like a radar detector would mount. In this location its still eazy to see w/o taking your eyes off the road (I got the one with the EGT readout). Also, if you need to take the truck in for service then it can be easily removed.
