Hey Bill, When the links come back up, look in Gomers Distributing or Gomers warehouse (I think..... ). They have a very complete plate list. I printed it out and keep it handy to look at.

I think they are TST plates that they sell... ... .

#4

JFulmer - when they put the #4 on the chart, the heading should not be #4, it should be more like 'obscene'. I'm sitting here looking @ the one I took out ... no wonder. :D

There is no #0 either? I guess its for us that are "Old" enough, so Joe D says.

Are you still running your #0 Forrest?

Here is some info I dug up about #4 & #0:

The 4 plate will give you 30 hp 55 torque over a #5 10 more h/p if

you have bigger injectors

On the 0 plate it is basicly a rack stop so the power if dependent on

what

injectors/turbo combo your running. With a 96 we have here with 370

injectors,0 plate, pdr modified hx35 high flow delivery valves we

dynoed

at 442 hp 1089 torque

Sure am Bill. Is the #0 centered in your example?

The #4 was sitting 3/4 forward. I 1st put the #0 centered, but it was a little down on power from the #4, so it got scooted to 3/4 of the way forward. Now it's beating the #4. :)

EGT gets to 1500 pretty fast with either plate. The #0 get's there faster. I don't know if an expensive cool air intake will knock it down much now. Probably the answer is the B-1. Oo.

Wow, I don't know J. R. Do you have a #4 in front of you or have you seen how deep they are cut? They are cut pretty deep past the vertical. I don't know if all the way forward would have the rack against the pin or not. Wouldn't want to break if off. I was ok @ 3/4 of the way forward, which was recommended by Piers. Sometimes on these plates all the way forward the tab can get caught under the plate. On the #4, the low rpm tab is ground down pretty low so you may not have a problem.

One thing you can do during install is put it all the way forward, give it wot & move the rack up against it to see if you're against the stop pin or not. Also ck to see if the rack will get trapped under it.

It'll be interesting to see what your EGT looks like. What plate do you have now?

Forest,

I put the #0 in the stock position. I'm just afraid if I went too far forward the rack would be against the pin instead of the plate. I tried working the throttle (fuel solenoid run postion) to see where it would be at max travel. It didn't work right. The rocker would come close to the plate, then nose dive under it.

If you have your AFC off for an adjustment, can you get the measurement from the front edge of the plate to the front edge of the housing? This way I can compare yours to see where I'm at. Mine is about . 155 now in the stock position.

I'll Dyno it May 11th. This will tell alot.

My #4 is in the stock position and yes I still have stock injectors and DV's, some time in the future I'll have all the goodies to push it forward (3/4... right) and will then go back to the dyno.

Bill,

Did your truck do about 380HP last time? I thought I remembered that was the number. Your lever is working the right way and will go under the plate after the throttle is pushed all the way forward. Hopefully the zero will push you to about 400HP or so.

You need more timing than 15 degrees to make a bit more power in your pump. Try like 19 and then you can put it back after the event to save on bearing and rod wear.

Don~

Hey Don,

Is bearing and rod wear our only fear with high timing? I was thinking that the increased cylinder pressures would help to kick out a head gasket.....

I set my timing to 16. 5* on Saturday... . and it sounds a little more like an ISB than it used to... . :D

#4

Forrest,

The #4fwd is a really wild ride!:--) Gotta point the truck straight b/f you hit the go peddal! What is the arm in the pump that when given peddal it moves towards the plate and pulls back quickly? I could not see any thing even close to the plate when moving the throttle. But after using the plate i can see a mark on the top of the point. So something must be touching it? The truck with the #4 fwd runs very strong in third! Man, its like driving an old camaro with a small block and posi!

J. R.

Bill,

were is the timing at? A number 4 is strong the zero will be stronger. Which injectors do you have?

Don~
