TST provides a video and real good written instructions with the plate. Don't be afraid to try and install it yourself. It appears much more difficult than it really is. Once you get started and follow the step by step instructions you will find how easy it really is.

1996 3500 Clubcab SLT, auto, 4. 10 limited-slip, TST #5, 370s, AFC spring kit, Psycotty, Dunrite converter, Trans-Go, Straight pipe, DiPricol EGT, boost & trans temp. gauges, 9 ft. aluminum flatbed and tool boxes with Venco dump. Custom front bumper, Hadley air horn.

They do come with very good instructions, but if you don't want to install one yourself, call Brian @ Terry's Truck Center 534-509-0609 They are just of Broadway, by the Peterbuilt dealer & have installed lots.

Please consider buying the video from TST. The cost is only $10. and gives you a blow by blow on how to do it. They will give you a credit toward purchase if you decide to proceed. I think the biggest problem is finding that tool so called impact wrench that takes a hammer impact to unscrew certain screws. From viewing the movie it seem very simple and doesn't take a lot of time. Good luck. Stephen in Sanger CA.

You don`t even need the impact tool. Just drill the tamper proof screws with a 1/8" drill bit ( I had a long drill bit) an 1/8" deep and tap a # 20 Torx bit into it. They come right out. In fact the last screw I took out is stuck on end of the torx bit!

Thanks for the info. Now can you tell me which plate I need. I have a 97 ,5sd club cab and pull a 31 ft 5er. Total weight around 17,500lbs again thanks .

RottonRob, I would suggest from experience the 280hp plate, but make sure you have pyrometer and boost gauges first. I have the same model truck as yours and have enjoyed the 280 hp plate early on in my performance upgrades. I prefer this plate overall for towing with our trucks. This is mostly due to the ability to control exhaust gas temperatures without additional modifications to the truck, such as turbo housings and exhaust. When you become accustomed to the increase in power and want more (and you will), contact Piers for a set of 370 injectors and a 16cm housing. You’ll be very impressed with this combination’s low-end response and power for towing. You’ll no longer worry about the passes on I-90. I drive through Idaho every year on my way to visit my father in IL and pull my 25’ travel trailer (gcvw 15000) through the passes with ease. #ad

DBR,

Is your #10 centered or slid?

------------------
Money Sink - 96, 5 speed, Injectors, 280/685 & AFC housing slid.
4" CAT back & CATless, 4" chrome turn down straight out back.
ISSPRO Pillar, Delvac 1 & Amsiol, K&N, Monicas silencer ring removed, Exhaust brake, Mag-Hytec, 3:54, 235s.
HX35s days are numbered, HX40-16 is here.
Un-Bombed = Boring

Forrest, I usually run both the #10 (330hp) and the #11(280) in the stock position. With the 370 injectors I run the 280 plate a bit back from stock (. 020) with the hx35/16cm2. I will some times run the #10 plate a little forward for fun with the hx40/16cm2, but the EGT's still get a little high for my taste. I prefer low end and minimal smoke for most of my settings, unless I'm going to Dyno Days then I do the total opposite, max fuel, max smoke #ad
. That is one draw back to the 12 valver, you must mechanically adjust your fuel setting, unlike the lucky 24 valver who just flips a switch.

Rottenrob--If you want to know which tst plate you need just e-mail tst at their web site. They are very friendly and will be glad to answere your questions and make a recomendation. By the way dont forget to tell them your year & if auto or standard transmission, it does make a difference on which plate to use. As for installation I did mine my self and I am no mechanic, just followd the vidio tape and double checked every thing twice. The power increase was very satisfying, I pull a 24ft trvl trl. Went up the vantage hill grade westbound 0n I 90 at 70 mph from bottom to top. Best of luck.
