Paul... did you make it to the track on the weekend?
just wondering what you found on the boxes
Thanks
Yes I did make it. In a nut shell, I really like the Redline! The TST comp is now off the truck, never to return...
The Redline on 80% fueling, ran . 34 seconds quicker then the TST comp did on level 9, and ~. 1 seconds quicker then the Drag Comp. I only made one pass with the Redline on 100%, and I smoked all 4 tires on the launch. I will be playing more with that this weekend.
IMO, the Edge drag comp (or the juice), is the best combination street strip box of the three that I tested. It has better street manners then the other two. For all out drag racing the Redline box, really shines. At lower settings it is streetable. It's power on the strip is much smoother and more linear. Because of the way it fuels it is much easier to build boost to a certain level then the drag comp, and especially the TST Comp. The TST Comp is really not driveable on the street above power level 4 (to much shudder). My biggest complaint is trying to build boost and hold the boost at a certain level (i. e. 15psi when staging). At 15psi with the TST Comp, if I held the throttle steady, the boost would keep climbing and by the time I launched it would be at ~20psi. I don't sled pull, but I would guess that this would be a good box for sled pulling.
From a quality of product, I would say that the Redline and TST box, are tied for quality construction. The Edge drag comp, has proven to lack at times in this area. In Edge's defense, the only problem I have had with mine in the last 3 years was with the fifth led going out on the display. Edge replaced to box at no charge.
For me... I am planning on racing the rest of this year with the Redline box stacked with the Edge Drag comp (for timing). I was that impressed with just 5 passes.
Thanks goes to Rip at (
Source Automotive, for letting me test the different boxes (as well as other things).
Here is my setup as we get started heavily into the 2007 drag race season:
HRVP44, Mach 6+ injectors, Helix 2 cam, City Diesel intercooler, HTT 62/14 over an S400 (Source Automotive twins), Redline fueling box, Drag Comp in EZ mode for timing, BD RAD (this may go, because with the Redline, it's not really needed... more testing needed here), Vulcan draw straw, RASP, DTT trans, detroit locker in the rear, ARB in the front.
