I would like to send in my TST box to have it upgraded to the competition version for $50. You can see in my signature that I don't have headstud's done. I think I'm either lucky or not near needing them yet, but very close. I've dynoed at 425hp/856tq and was wondering what the upgrade will do as far as hp and tq #'s, also will boost increase very much. I've heard stock stud's are good up to 50 psi and I'm at 42/43 max now. Will I be safe or should I get the head done w/ stud's.

upgrade will raise RPM capability as well as fuel on top end,u must smoke pretty good now ,ive found the smarty to be an excellent compliment to the fueling of the tst. how are ur egts? at what setting?

Beach -- how do you like the HTT 62/12? I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new turbo and am welcoming all input.

DCreed -- thanks for the info. I spent about 1/2 an hour on the phone with Dennis at HTT today and he is recommending a QuickDiesel64 with the stainless housing. Unfortunately, it's a painful 2G's plus the cost of the downpipe.

which housing 13 or 16? can u upgrade the htb2?? i take it this truck is mostly for fun?

With my box on 9, it can get above 1300deg. pretty quick! I went with the 62/12 since I use my truck as a daily driver. I was told when I bought it that I can upgrade to the 14 and it will cool it down on the top end, but spool up will be slower. Also I guess you can use the HTB2 in a twin setup. I do like this turbo and it increased my hp about 100 with my mod's. The stock turbo could'nt handle all the fuel I guess. I think I bought it from Rip Rook at Source Automotive for around $1200. It was almost 2 year's ago, I can't remember. Anyway's, call around and do your homework to find the best price. I thought I did O. K. Good luck.

Sorry got confused!
Beach- Smarty helps a ton w/lag! a 14 housing will be a good thing so u can USE the power!
isb360- we have very similar set-ups ,i need a bigger turbo but since this truck tows a 62/14 is for me im not yet sure the SS13 is enough and the SS16 may be a dog . if u mean to drag or pull then the 64 makes sense but studs are mandatory as boost WILL be too high. If u go bigger also up the TST to comp!

Yeah... .

Those prices are painfully close to the cost of a HX35 over an S400 twin kit. You might take a look at that route. With twins head studs are pretty much required as a minimum, thats puts about another $400 to the price.

I feel so out of the loop on this thread... sorry, was en route to Phoenix.

DCreed... I was thinking the 13 housing, not the 16. I think the 13 would give me good EGT reduction with reasonable spool (with my Smarty) and according to HTT, they have seen compressor surge drop to just about zero. In jet engines surge is bad and I don't want it any more in my turbo than I would on a 737.

Nudging $2k is princely enough and unless I win the lottery, twins are out of the question. I am thinking with the QuickDiesel64 w/ SS13 housing, I can get the performance I'm looking for, be able to support M4 injectors down the road, and deal with the lag by having a 5-speed and smarty.

I do tow occasionally, generally no more than 7k and not (yet) out of New England, so I am not pulling 6% grades for miles on end. With that in mind, I am sure I could manage EGT's in a pinch.

Did I hit everyone's comments?
