i finally found time for the install. received it last week but have been too busy to get to it. also i wanted to make sure i had enough time in case i encountered problems.

the install went really easy. in fact, i kept thinking it was too easy.

a few items i modified outside the instructions:

1. there is a rubber plug under the clutch pedal to pass the control wire through. worked great!

2. needed more cable ties to suit my "over do it" attitude.

3. i cut a notch in the lip of the fuse box to pass the 2 wires through.

4. i attached the ground wire on the fender ground by the battery with the other small wires. looks factory.

overall this a quality setup!

OK - now about the way it runs...

started right up, like normal. absolutely no change in driveability. it was getting dark so i set it on 3 by 3.

after it warmed up, i got into it and all i can say is "OH MY GOD!!"

the first time it really kicked in (4th gear) it scared me.

i don't think i was in it for more than 2 seconds in 4th and then 5th and it was already too fast (70ish) for the road i was on. and finally, i saw that beautiful black smoke from my truck!!!!!

no more for tonight, i am letting my heart rate come back down to normal.

all is well and no codes or any problems whatsoever.

wife thinks i am nuts for sure now!

TST

Sounds like a good install experience. Glad you like the package.

If you get a chance, once the heavy foot fun is gone, let us know what it does to your milage.

Thanx

sorry i didnt respond sooner, too many things to do.

so to answer a few questions,

GW, don't yell at me, but i dont have the pyro in yet. thats why i am taking it easy right now. i've never been in it for more than 3 seconds in any gear. i did get the boost temporarily connected. it jumps to around 30 and then backs off to 26. probably have to adjust the elbow (when the pyro is in).

i am waiting for the autometer dash pod to show up and mount the gauges before i get serious about turning up the power.

EE, the last 2 tanks were 20. 8 & 20. 2 calculated ave. not sure what it will look like in 500 miles:rolleyes:

i definately am glad i put the TST in. even the little around town "jumps" are fun.

any ideas what gauge i should get to fill the 3rd hole in the pod????

the logical one would be fuel pressure, but i am open to suggestions.

i have a strange update to my truck.

since about the day after installing the box, i noticed that the turbo seemed louder. it wasn't just me, the whole family agreed. well it sounds cool, but it bothered me why it would change. i checked all the connections and boots. everything was perfect. boost pressure was up to normal standards and the truck still runs great.

well, i hate an unsolved mystery, so when i got home tonight, i took the air intake off the turbo, and low and behold, the silencer ring and snap ring came out!!!!! they were slightly sideways to the intake and of course can't be sucked into the turbo. it does look like the silencer ring was rubbing on the nut on the end of the shaft and it scuffed it and put a dimple in the ring, but it is not broken.

has anybody ever experienced this????

i am curious why it came out.

when i installed the boost elbow, i had the intake off and everything looked fine. i had the ring out once, many months ago just to see what the hoopla was about and then put it back in.

needless to say, it is not going back in this time!!

jim

Wow, as tight as that snap ring is in its track... i don't see how it

would EVER come out unless it was installed wrong.

First time Ive heard of that happening.

i got to tell you, i am really wondering if there is something i did wrong. i did put it back in tonight just for a minute, to see how it fit, and it was really tight, so i am stumped.

i had this "theory" that since there is a gap between the ring and the actual turbo opening, that so much air came rushing in with the new box, that it got behind the silencer ring and popped it out.

hopefully that does not sound impossible, just improbable.

Well it's either deja vu, or I saw a similar post a week or 2 ago. Can't remember what year truck, but I thought it was a 3rd gen.

(of course I can't find it now  )

hehe

I would just keep it out and be done with it. If its tight then its

bent b/c it falls right out (usually) w/o the snap ring installed.

I visited the land of 7/6 one time - I swear I saw the ghost of Rudolf Diesel smiling in the passenger seat but it was only Chad (Red Ram). Second gear spun the tires like the truck was on blocks. Third gear resulted in about ten feet of shrieking tires and an eruption of uncontrollable giggles from all aboard. She went from 30 mph to 100 in about an eighth. It chirped fourth.

Exhaust temps? about 14-1500 but the truck moves so fast you can't keep it there anyway.

TST isn't just a fueling box, it's diesel nirvana!

okay guys, help a newbie out here please.

What does TST stand for?

Who sells them?

I'd like to read more about the actual product, and have used the search feature but not enough detail on the 04. 5 model year.
