I am looking at getting one of these for my truck and have a question. Since I already have gauges, I am after the one w/o gauges, and am wondering if it still has EGT based defueling? And if I get one sans gauges and defueling, can I upgrade the remote only or do I have to get a whole new unit? I think that the EGT based defueling is going to be a very important feature.

Thanks;

James

You can call TST for specific info as to wheter or not you can integrate the options but if you buy the unit with no gauges you will not get egt base defueling. The bulk of the cost diffrence between the two is the price of the thermocouple needed for the unit to monitor temperature.

The EGT-based defueling relies on the integrated thermocouple probe and associated hardware inside the main unit. If you get the box without gauges, you don't have the board inside that interfaces with the thermocouple.

If you want EGT-based defueling, you have to get the model with the gauges. If you already have an EGT gauge, move it's thermocouple post-turbo, and you can monitor both pre and post-turbo EGTs. If you have a boost gauge, consider it as a backup to the one on the TST remote, since the TST just uses the reading from the stock MAP sensor (and is therefore limited to the accuracy and capability of the MAP sensor, which tops out at 44psi).

I have one PMCR with guages and one without. Both have the yellow and red wires for the thermocouple. If the one without guages does not have the defueling option, then what are the wires for?

I understood all the boxes are the same and they short the thermocouple in the no gauge option. Is there any way to set the defuel temp on the non gauge model?
