McDaniel mounting TST

On my 2004. 5 just to the right of the steering column at the temp guage is a small slot that the TST guage will slide into perfect.

I know there must be a thread out there that addresses this... . but, how do you all like you PMCRs? I am planning to move from EZ to PMCR and would appreciate your input before I make the buy. My only concern is that the next big buy will have to be transmission upgrades. BTW I took the EZ off recently and can hardly stand the truck at stock power level. Gotta have more power!

Thanks... Sorry for hijacking a perfectly good thread.

Hey MattyMac... You better shoot that "dirty bird" that's been cr_ _ _ _ _ g on your windshield :-laf :-laf ... the PMCR R47 Remote is an awesome unit, 4/4 or 3/3 work well for my towing/power needs  ...

Thanks Fireman... I've been a big fan/reader of the forum here for quite some time as I started with a 2nd Gen 24V... tried out the "Diesel Place", nice folks, not near the site that TDR is, plus I got tired of getting sucked in to all that DuraMax rederick :--) "I think I'm going to hurl"... Take It Easy!!

It is a great box with huge potential. If you try to go beyond setting 6 on a stock turbo, expect to buy a new one. This is a box that demands respect, if you don't you'll be sorry. It is night and day to the EZ though :D

I decided to mount my TST remote in my ashtray partially because I did not want to have it cluttering up my dash or blocking any of my factory gauges and I wanted to keep the interior looking stock for any unsuspecting passengers I may have riding with me (i. e. my mom who does not know about the TST yet... still waiting to intorduce her to 5x5. . hehe)..... To mount it I pulled out the removable ashtray insert and then removed the mount from the dash... using the file on my Leatherman multi-tool I carefully made the hole in the top of the mount where the light would normally go big enough to slip the plug through... I secured the remote with 4 1"x1" pieces of velcro... Then I routed the wires behind the removable dash panels and out to the engine bay... It is easy to read and adjust while driving but I would wager that is partially due to having long arms... It is a lil bit of a tight fit but it went in easily enough... I had to rebend the wires a bit so that I can still close the ashtray easily...

I was amazed at how nicely the remote fit into the ashtray holder... if the remote was even 1/8" larger it would not fit without having to clearance the side of the ashtray mount for the wires... . its almost like someone designed these two parts to fit together... I also have another pyro mounted on my a-pillar so that I do not have to keep looking down all the time... Apparently more then one gauge can be attached to a single probe and still have both of them read accurately... . I have noticed that the pyro on the TST remote is MUCH more sensitive to temperature changes then the Stewart Warner gauge I have on the a-pillar... at times I have noticed as much as a 50 degree difference between the two... .

Anyone else care to offer thier opinion on this? Stepping up to the PMCR in a few weeks and was just going to get the model minus gauges seeing as how I already have my steering pod ones, but if the same probe will let me run 2 gauges, I just might get the full tilt PMCR. TIA, Mark
